Has anyone graduated from or is currently attending the LVN program at St. Philip's College in San Antonio? If you have, how was it? Any advice that you would give upcoming students? :)

Hi Anya16, I too posted a thread just now inquiring about St. Phillips LVN program. I thought I heard a while back that the graduates weren't scoring well on the NCLEX, but not sure how true that is. I also want to see how much the tuition was, because Galen sounds good, but a little expensive, and I also want to find out how much it is at Baptist. Did you ever find anything out about St. Phillips?
No, I still haven't found anything out about St. Philips. All I know is that it is a better deal then Career Point College or Texas Careers. Those schools are very expensive!

Hello! :) I just started the LVN program at St. Philip's... it is VERY cheap (my tuition this semester was 880.00, books were about 500.00) and although it's only been a week since classes started; the instructors seem very knowledgable and lots of fun! There have been lots of changes in the curriculum so I've had a few bumps along the road (in regards to class scheduling) but other than that I would definitely recommend it over Galen, Career Point, etc. As far as graduates not scoring well; I heard that on the news a while back also but I'm guessing that's why the curriculum was changed.

Is it true that one have to know one of the staff before you can be accepted into the lvn program? I have applied hoping to get the letter this week but a friend of mine told me that I have to know someone there before I can be accepted...
Definitely not true... I did not know any of the staff OR any students before I started school. So... no worries. Did you apply for the spring?

For those that can afford the Galen route, go for it. They have a strong program with one of the highest LVN licensure pass rates in the state. I graduated from there 8 years ago. Great program and the instructors were awesome.
Good Luck.

I am a St. Phillips student.
Its a good program and from what I read online it has its problems like every other program.
Most of the instructors are :) and a few are :angryfire but in the nursing world we have to deal with all kinds of personalities.
The instructors will present/teach the information but you have to do your part by studying and preparing. If you have any questions...just ask your instructor.
Yes, the program is changing...and this will make it better for the new student nurses .
