Hey new member but very familiar to this site!! Any one applying to SPSON for the Jan 2016 class?? What did you think of the SLE exam? What should I expect from the Hesi exam? Being that this school is not Acen accredited would that make a degree from the school useless? And can you transfer to an accredited BA program once you complete St. Paul's and pass the nclex?? Interested in the program and worried at the same time!!!
Yea I am I'm trying not to let all the negative reactions make my decision but it's hard it has to be some truth if not a little to what people are saying... Are you s nurse? Do you work in a hospital? Did your co workers have trouble finding a job or advancing in their education because the school was not acen accriedted ?
Well that's a lot to digest it's so sad that all the post are all negative regarding this school It's sad.. Mean while all the other schools make it close to impossible to get into here in NYC!!! thanks for your insight tho..
You're welcome. I wish I would have known all this prior to attending this school - so I just want to forewarn others. You did state that you are looking into the Queens location, is that correct? If so, then what I've stated may not apply. As I mentioned in my post, I can't say anything about the Queens Campus since I've never been there and don't know much about it.
As far as the accreditation goes, as well as what schools you can attend, I think what I posted about that is standard and applies. A lot of my classmates, myself included, always say we "wish we never went to this school." So, I just want to warn you. Also the school is owned by Education Affiliates. I would Google Search them if you have the opportunity. They do have lawsuits against them.
To answer your questions:
Yes I am a nurse - A LPN and a RN. I do not currently work in a hospital. I work as a LPN in a LTC facility. I have applied to many positions in a hospital and have not had any luck. I'm not sure if its because of the school, or the fact that I only have my Associates, or maybe since I have no RN experience. I do have experience working as a LPN though. A lot of my classmates are still looking for jobs - but we all just graduated in June. A lot of of just received our licenses this month. So of course, it will take time to find a job. Finding a job in a hospital is probably difficult unless you have connections. Most new grads will probably find themselves working in LTC facilities (nursing homes) and maybe home care.
In terms of advancing education - a lot of my classmates - if not all, will be pursing their BSN online through one of the schools St. Paul's has a articulation agreement with. As stated in my previous post, I am not looking into a online school. So for me, I have already heard that many CUNY and SUNYs do not accept a lot of credits from St. Pauls. I will have to find that out for myself though. I will begin looking into schools in August and applying in September. I will keep you updated as to what the CUNYs and SUNYs tell me.
Good luck in all of your nursing education! I wish you the best!
That's so funny I currently work at a LTC but in admin department.. So you took your test and you passed!!??? Congrats so there is a little hope lol yeah it's all about who you know in the medical field.. So I'm keeping close contact with all nurse managers and doctors!! Please let me know what school you applied to as well.. Thanks again
Hey all I'm a third semester student in SPSON queens campus. If you have any questions please email me directly and I'd be happy to answer your questions! [email protected].
I have been trying to apply to SPSON and no luck I was told I would have to wait 1 yr to try again I asked the admissions advisor for my transcripts and she refused to give them to me. I asked her if I would have to request them again next time I apply and she said yes but I have the sense that she just was not trying to assist me at all during this process I guess I rubbed her the wrong way. I really wanted to go to this school even after all the negativity I have heard from it. Now I have to find another school
wish me luck
I failed twice but 2 points and she gave me the sense because the day i went to the info session and when someone asked about failing twice she said it would be up to me to decide if i let you continue or not but when i failed she didn't recall saying that and then told me to try again in a yr which was not mentioned at the info session.
Oh.. Did you take the review classes? Well I would use that year to review and brush and study of this is something you want it's gonna be hard work.. I took the Hesi and I passed the math but because I spent so much time on the math i had to rush through the English and missed it by 2 points as well I hope I can retake the English.. I will pray for the both of us í ½í¸
