St Pauls School of Nursing 2010 Acceptance

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hey, has anyone else received an acceptance letter for the spring 2010 semester? :D

i just spent about 400 on all 6 nursing books =) but its worth it cause you basically use all those books for all 4 semesters. hope youre all enjoying your break!

thanks for replyinq. i dunno if i need the a&p cus i took it already but i got c in both I & II nd psychology nd microbiology. i gues i should wait til orientation day den decide which books i need

well the 6 books you need for ur nursing classes -so you have to get those books regardless (except for the math for meds book which some people might have taken elsewhere) . the anp and psych books are needed only if u need to take those classes . i think you find out at orientation when they review your transcript and accept the classes or not. I believe a C is acceptable for receiving the transfer credits.

danks busyb1. do you know if they prefer us to buy the new books wid the cds or its fine if its purchased used?

hey jc! my friend said you refer back to most of the books for all 4 semesters so i just bought them all new. I also didnt find any big price diff between the used and the new books esp cause most of the books are recent editions. for me personally i got new books because i hate when other people hilight in the books. As long as its the same edition i dont see a prob in buying them used~ see you in 2 weeks!! = )

Danks busyb1. i just went to amazon and purchased the new ones. Prices are already increasinq. Thanks so much for the help. I just bought 4 books like 3 mins ago. Need to buy 2 more books. The fundamentals of nursing and the psychiatric mental health nursing. Hopefully i bought the right books lols. Anyways danks so much, and see yu in 2 weeks at the orientation.=) r yu doing the cpr class on the 14th as well?

Wondering if someone could answer my question and or give advice. I Recently started to study for the exam and math isnt really my strong point so I am getting very nervous about this section on the test. What is a passing grade for ST. Paul's for the DET? Is the DET weighed more then your transcript, interview and essay to get into the school? Do you only get an interview if you pass the DET or is it a combination of everything? Just wondering if everything is weighed or if one is more then the other. Sorry for all f the questions, just very curious.

Thanks!:D

if youre taking the entrance exam to get into the school you should concentrate on the english and not much on the math. the math is pretty easy..the english is pretty hard so study that. i dont know whats the passinq grade tho. i got a 60's for the entrance. i think they loook at everything when they decide whether to accept you or not. After the examination you have to wait round 2 weeks or so, edpendinq. and then if youre accepted or theyre considerinq you, they'll call yu in for an interview.

Hey everyone!

I've had so many questions but a lot of them have been answered after reading what everyone has posted. I am so interested in this school, applying for it makes me nervous because I can't stand the thought of not getting accepted.*

I'm nervous because there is nothing about my resume that stands out. All I have is my HS diploma, which is ok but no high GPA or college credits to help make me stand out.*

Does anyone have any suggestions to help boost my resume and better my chances. I would really appreciate it!

Btw, Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!*

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if someone could give me a bit of advice. I am applying to St. Paul's Nursing School for the Fall 2010 semester. What worries me is that I currently have a 2.49 gpa. When I call for an admissions counselor and ask if I stand a chance with that gpa, they simply tell me I have to come in for an interview and see the school. What does that mean? Do I still have a chance if I perform well on the NET exam and impress them on my interview. I'm really nervous, any advice? Should I even try with that gpa?

Hi everyone...I don't mean upset anyone but I just found out some information that I think you all should know. I went down to the school today to get an application and one of the questions I asked was if they were certified by the NLN. I assumed they were but I just wanted to make sure and the guy told me they were not but they were certified by the New York Regents Association which is high up there in credentials.

This made me feel alittle uncomfortable so I called the New York State Nurses Association (518) 782-9400 in case anyone wants to verify what I am saying is correct and after being transferred 100 times I finally got the correct department and told the lady that I was interesting in St. Pauls but they were not NLN certified and what does that mean.

She told me that being they are certified by the New York Regents that means they are an accredited school in New YOrk, however the NLN is the national nursing league so if I ever wanted to work outside of New York, or be a travel nurse I probably would not be able to....that didnt bother me much because I'm not leaving New York ever, however the part that bothered me is she asked me what type of degree I was going for.

I told her I was going for an Associates in Nursing degree and when I graduate I was planning on working then eventually returning to school to obtain my bachelors, and she told me that many schools might not allow me to go from an associates to a bachelors because the school is not NLN certified. She said getting an associates degree from a school that is not nln certified then going back to school to get the bachelors degree will be a big problem at many schools because they will only recognize associate degrees from an nln certified school.

After reading what you wrote, Kuklara, I feel a little nervous. That was the main school I was looking at for nursing, but I to want to get my bachelors degree and possibly move to jersey. I'm not sure what to do now, or which schools to consider.
