Hey everyone,
Wondering if there's anyone here who has been through the St. Kate's Post Bacc program or is applying there. I just applied. If you have been through it (or is currently in it), what is the time committment involved? I was told I could work and keep my job, but how many hours are you able to work? I guess I'm most concerned with the Nursing coursework. How difficult are the classes? Do you need to buy all of the books?
So many questions I have. Any help will be appreciated! Can't wait to hear from any of you. Thanks so much!

Hi there. I have applied as well for admission to the Fall 2011 cohort. I just met with a friend who is finishing up the post bacc BSN at St. Kate's in December and she has mostly good things to say. Very intense workload though, and she says it's wayyy more than evenings and weekends in terms of commitment. I am anxious to hear, mostly because my GPA meets the minimum requirements but that's about it. Like my essay though. Good luck to you...

I'm curious too! I was hoping to find some people who are currently a part of the program who would be open to sharing their experience. This is a huge leap for me to get back into school and I'm scared to death!

hi there,
i recently spoke with someone in the post-bacc program that began the nursing coursework in jan. (i believe she graduates in dec. 2012.)
she works full-time and is a mom. the time designated to completing the pre-reqs didn't seem to be problematic for her (the first 1.5 years). however, she recently emailed me and said her one recommendation is to work part-time, if possible, during the nursing classes.
this isn't possible for everyone with financial obligations like mortgages, etc. if you really want to pursue nursing and are offered a spot in the next cohort i would not pass up the opportunity if you are truly dedicated. i would say just plan to be very disciplined, proactive and busy for the next 3.5 years (especially the last 2).
i wish you the best!

Wow, thank you! I'd sure love to pick your friend's brain. : )
Has anyone else heard from St. Kate's? I got an acceptance letter on Friday!! I was really not expecting to get in, but I am extremely grateful. I applied and figured if I somehow got in, I would take it as a sign and become a nurse. Its something I've been thinking about for years and one thing or another has gotten in the way. So getting an acceptance letter a good month before I was expecting a rejection letter has to mean something, right?!
i got an acceptance letter, too! like you, i wasn't expecting hear until june and am thrilled. the admission statistics indicate it's pretty competitive (i think last year 145 applied and 32 were accepted) so there is no way i would turn down the opportunity! i feel very fortunate.
looks like we will be in the same nursing cohort... nice to meet youj
congrats!
That's great news for you both. I have not received a letter yet so don't know what that means. Good luck to you!
JennAnne ~ Congrats to you as well! Wow, fun to connect with someone I'll probably get to know pretty well in the next 4 years here online! : ) Have you sent your acceptance of the acceptance yet?
megstudent7 ~ I wouldn't worry too much. I'm thinking that they accept students in stages because I was given 2 weeks to reply or my application would have been cancelled. They will probably send out another wave of acceptance letters during the month. That what I'm thinking anyway! Good luck to you!!

thanks! yes; i sent the intent to enroll form, etc. and am all set.

thanks for the kind words! i agree with evlu22, i think they are sending them in waves. i also had to make my decision by may and the orientation is not scheduled for awhile. best of luck to you!!
Thanks to both of you for the good vibes. I'll post when I find out if I've been accepted. I am surprised to hear they are sending the decision letters out early this year. My friend in the program said she got hers mid-June. Well, no point in trying to guess. I'll know when I know. Thanks again.
