Spring 2018 wake tech nursing

U.S.A. North Carolina

Hey Everyone,

I am just wondering if anyone is in the same boat as I am :) I am applying to wake techs nursing program this july 31st for spring 2018. Anyone who is or had , and got in have any insight with grades that got them accepted? And all that?

Hello,

I applied for 2018 spring as well. I think the point system was up to 250, maybe 270 points. I can't quite remember but you do have to take the mandatory info session, if you haven't done so already they have one coming up in june or you can just take it online from the website. In that session they provide you with a 70 page powerpoint slide that covers everything about the program and the career.

I can provide to you all what I've been told/learned. My advisor told me they give you points for certain classes and you have to take the teas. Also they require you to have at least 8 of your pre req classes completed. I haven't heard back as far as if I will be accepted, I just know that I have to take the teas but that's only because its mandatory for entrance in the program. My advisor told me that I'm exempt from having to take the teas to gain entrance in the program. I've also taken all of my pre req's and the only thing I have left are all NUR classes..I also have a degree from another school. I don't know if this had anything to do with it. However, when I learn more or hear back I will make sure to update.

Good luck to you all!

you may want to check and see if you'll get credit for the class if taken in the summer. This was mentioned in the info session but I can't quite remember, i think they changed it to any classes taken in the summer will not be applied for the spring admission. you may want to check,

I'm in the 200 range and the advisor didn't make it sound like it carried much weight, he made me feel like they have a large number of students who have high points. the only thing he told me was i only have to take teas cause its mandatory but it won't be the deciding factor as if i get into the program

Hi candy cakes. I will be applying with 181 points as the highest is 216. I would say you are fine regardless of.the counselor saying that. That does not make much sense as 163 is generally accepted and the cut off so I would think you are fine. 180s is typically generally competitive. I too also have a degree and they said they do not typically look at degrees. They strictly go off of points. I just talked to mine yesterday and they said 181 is competitive but can't guarantee anything because they don't know who us applying. Which makes sense! As far as summer classes anything before admissions count. Thats what mine told me. They don't look at applicants till mid August. Seems like we are heading different things?!?!

I hope so, I felt a lot better when I was only talking to the advisors about it, but then in May I attended the mandatory information session and now I'm all nervous again because most of the info that the advisors gave me wasn't accurate.

Here's what the SPRING 2018 entails as I'm copying this directly from Wake Techs last information session

They have about 200 applicants BUT only 70-75 students will be accepted.

They will not guarantee if you will be accepted even if you've taken all the pre req's

The teas scores for points highest is 20 points

Must have CNA

For SPRING 18 program the summer classes successfully passed will add points to your overall score, this i was wrong about.

Most of their applicants have taken all pre reqs or at least 8 of them

The number of qualified applicants last year was 193 (fall) and 214 (spring) But the most accepted was 74 students for fall and 80 for spring.

I think they notify students by August maybe? the advisor told me that I will hear something around the August time frame. As of right now, the advisors just got back to me regarding the points they are given me for classes already taken and transferred credits. It's a long stressful process

and I'm not sure if you all are interested but Duke, ECU, and UNC Chapel Hill...they have a great Accelerated nursing program but you must have your bachelors to apply.

Good luck to all

Thanks so much! Yeah I had my orientation back in August last year and was afraid it all changed but from that post nothing has. Thanks for that info! I thought about ABSN programs and they are still on my mind; however wake tech is where I am first applying too. If all else fails I'll be applying to an ABSNs! Good luck to you!

Oh and my advisor said mid September they notify applicants!

But I'll take mid august! Haha

Hello everyone! I've also applied for the spring 2018 cohort. I made it as an alternate for the fall 2017 start although i never intended to start than. my plan was to get as much information as possible! first day of nursing school we have a med calculation exam so if anyone needs the IBSN # for the study manual ill be more than happy to dig it up from my notes. so for the fall admission, which is usually the most competitive, they started acceptance around 160/161 but on orientation 17 seats were already up for grabs! I'm applying with 184 points and a adviser told me i really shouldn't have anything to worry about although i still am stressed of course haha.

Hi there. I am applying with 181. Not counting my chickens but i wouldnt mnd the ibsn number! Haha Thank you! How does that test go the first day? Is there a certain pass grade?

Hey I got in for fall 2017 and you have to make a 90 or better for passing. The first day is the pre test to see where you are and if you don't get 90 or better they will refer you to ILC also if you don't get a 90 or better on the real test you will get dropped from the course.

Strictly on med calc?
