Hey ya'll!
I am an applicant who applied to UT Health Science center for the Fall of 2017. I found the allnurses forum so useful for all of the students that were currently going through the same process was.
I wanted to start another forum for the next year for all the applicants so they were able to share ideas, stats, background etc.
So i'll start:
HESI A2:
A&P 80
Math 98
Grammar 94
Reading 92
Vocab 96
I have a previous degree from Texas State University in Psychology (Bachelors).
Science GPA: 3.812
Nursing Pre-req: 3.512
Cumulative (155hrs): 3.2
I hope this helps and you get as much out of this as I did. I met some really awesome people on here who are all on the journey to becoming great nurses. Don't hesitate to say hi!
I haven't. I actually called the admission office on Tuesday referring to my classes and transcript. The lady on the phone was nice and told me to be patient. The school will send an email soon.
Haha I just hope we get it soon. Based on that eval, I either get to drop the class or have to endure another stats course. This would be my third time in stats... And not because I failed or did poorly -.-

This is my 3rd time applying and in the past not everyone received a transcript evaluation.
Hey y'all! I also applied for UTHealth Spring 2018. I'm just looking to network with potential classmates on here so hopefully when we all get in *fingers crossed* at least we'll already be somewhat familiar with one another. I know age has been mentioned a lot on here so I guess I'll go ahead and share it all. I'm 19 and a sophomore at Lamar University as a pre-nursing major. Here are my stats from college thus far after 56 hours:
Overall GPA: 4.0
Science GPA: 4.0
Prereq GPA: 4.0
HESI Score Breakdown:
Overall: 92
Reading: 88
Grammar: 94
Vocabulary: 94
Chemistry: 100
Math: 100
A&P: 76 (I took the test before taking A&P II and of course with my luck I was tested over material I hadn't covered yet.)
I'm not confident about my HESI score especially if they look at my A&P score individually but I am hoping they will understand that I took the test without A&P II knowledge. If not, oh well. Also, I'm not sure what I'm going to do about housing. I figured once we find out how all has gotten in, some of us could maybe find an apartment together since I assume we all have somewhat similar schedules and values. I know the application deadline has already passed so we're all just waiting for late October-early November but good luck to everyone who has applied! I hope we all get in!
Hi Everyone,
This is my second time applying. I was placed on the waiting list last time probably due to my low number of finished classes and low 1st time HESI score.
These are my stats now:
HESI:
Reading: 90; Grammar: 94; Vocabulary: 90; A&P: 92; Math:96; Overall: 92.4
GPA
4.0 for all nursing prerequisites
All prerequisites are finished and verified.
P.S.
Among all schools I am interested in now, UTHSC Houston looks like the most competitive to get into. Some prior applicants who had very high stats could not get in. I suspect the school looks at other factors beyond HESI and GPA - like repeated classes, semester work load, etc..who knows. It is good for me that this program does not consider prior medical field experiences, which I don't have any. LOL
Hey guys, hypothetical question.... If lets say you guys got accepted to twu and ut health houston, which one would you pick and why?
Honeslty, they're both incredible schools and they're right next to each other (well pretty close). I would say that is more of a personal preference. I don't know much about TWUs actual program but I would look at program length, NCLEX pass rates and all that stuff. Look at the specifics and how well they tailor to what you're looking for.
