Spring 2018: UT Health Science Center Houston

Published

Hey ya'll!

I am an applicant who applied to UT Health Science center for the Fall of 2017. I found the allnurses forum so useful for all of the students that were currently going through the same process was.

I wanted to start another forum for the next year for all the applicants so they were able to share ideas, stats, background etc.

So i'll start:

HESI A2:

A&P 80

Math 98

Grammar 94

Reading 92

Vocab 96

I have a previous degree from Texas State University in Psychology (Bachelors).

Science GPA: 3.812

Nursing Pre-req: 3.512

Cumulative (155hrs): 3.2

I hope this helps and you get as much out of this as I did. I met some really awesome people on here who are all on the journey to becoming great nurses. Don't hesitate to say hi!

Hey Mel, I inboxed you on Fb.

Hey Mel, I inboxed you on Fb.

What's your name on FB?

I didn't get a message from you. Send me a friend request.

You don't have that option on your page lol... but i just poked you so you can know who I am.

HEY I hope someone is able to answer this one question I am currently looking to apply to UT health for spring 19 but like most people I am hesitant about my stats. I am currently graduating with my bachelors in health degree in May 2018.

My my overall GPA is acceptable but my Required science GPA is not where I want it to be.

overall: 3.2

science: 2.7

I have not yet taken my Hesi but i pan on making a 80-90% score to compensate for my mediocre

science GPA.

THe QUESTION: After graduation could I retake my science classes at a community college and have it replace the C I got in AP2 and chem. and will this boost my GPA in the eyes of the admissions committee?

Hope someone is able to answer or has had this experience of retaking classes after having a degree. I really want to be more competitive to increase my chances in getting into a nursing school.

Hi everyone,

I'm so glad someone started a new forum for this round of applicants. I just applied for the Fall term -

Here are my stats:

HESI - Reading 98, Grammar 94, Vocabulary 92, A+P 92, Math 100

Overall HESI - 96

I have a pre-requisite GPA of 4.0 but I have a low GPA from a previous university I attended back from 2010-2015.

I worked really hard hoping to show my improvement. I'm hoping its good enough but I think its kind of a bummer because there is no interview or personal statement part of the application process.

I'd appreciate whatever feedback I can get.

Fingers crossed that we all become classmates soon :)

Hi guys, I just took the Hesi exam last week. My overall is 90. I wanted to apply to Ut health in Spring 2018, but I didn't finish Microbiology class yet. I will be done with this class on August 9. The deadline for applying is August 15. Can I send the transcript to them in last minute? Or do I have to wait for next semester to apply?

Thank you so much!

After a 5 year break from my previous nursing program at SAC due to a stroke, I just applied for the UTHSC for the spring 2019 session. I made an 84 on my TEAS 6. Unfortunately I took some courses the semester after my stroke which occurred in September 17, 2013. Between the meds and brain injury I failed thise courses dismally. My cumulative went from a 3. 75 to 3.28. Math/science is about 3.17. I'm hoping the TEAS score will make my lower GPA less detrimental. I did my A$P 1 and 2 in 2010 and 2011 so I don't think the Baptist program will accept them. I'm really worried that I wont get in. I looked at the galen program and it's expensive. I'm receiving help from my vocational program DARS so they might not allow Galen. I am stuck until I hear back as if I've been accepted. How lo ng before ya'll found out after the admission deadlines?
