Spring 2016: USF CA Non- RN MSN Program

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi guys,

Starting a new thread for USF Ca MSN for Non RN's program.... just submitted my app!!! Super anxious but I am glad I submitted early!!!! Anyone else submitted applications???

That's what I've heard... they call and then send you an acceptance letter via snail mail. If you're wait listed, you get a letter no call.

they call people?! everyday I get more anxious/nervous too! haha

Just answer all your phone calls with "Hola!" just in case one of the calls is USF. Show them how fluent you are in your Spanish.

Looks like we won't be hearing back until early- mid December :dead: Admissions told me 6- 8 weeks after the deadline. Denials usually hear first and early on.

I'm literally counting the days! haha Week 6 is during Thanksgiving, and Week 8 is the week of Dec. 7th! haha 2 weeks or 1 month to go! LOL

Waiting game continues!!!!!

Hi, all. I wanted to let you know a couple things about the app process....I am finishing the program in a few weeks, and I remember what it was like this time 2 years ago waiting for the acceptance call or rejection letter. Two people in my cohort found out as early as Thanksgiving weekend, and then more and more people got letters each subsequent week, with most finding out by the second and third weeks of December. Some people even found out one week before orientation in January! It is true that they will call you if you get accepted (even if your application status still says "submitted" but hasn't changed from that screen ever since). Keep in mind, they are SO swamped with this app process that it might be different for every app cycle...this is simply my experience. It was AGONIZING to wait, especially after seeing others posting they got accepted or not. That being said, and easier said than done, I would recommend NOT reading this thread too often because it will only stress you out more. (Of course I continued to check everyday but in retrospect I wish I didn't).

It is true that you can have pre-reqs in progress or a not-so-stellar undergrad or pre-req GPA if other areas of your app are strong. If you don't get in, try not to take it personally...remember that doesn't mean you're not a good candidate, it means there are hundreds of good candidates and if you're dedicated you will get in somewhere at some point. Regardless, through perseverance all applicants will be RNs someday.

I hope this helps and congrats on making it this far! I am super busy finishing up my last few weeks of the program but will try and check back on here periodically for messages.

Cheers!

Hi Everyone,

I haven't been on the thread for some time, but I am also a nervous wreck and just continue to pray that my app is one of the chosen few. That being said-no new is good news to me, so I happily wait until I hear something! Good luck to you all!

Thanks for your words of encouragement! Please let us know how you finish the program and especially about your graduation ceremony experience. Best of luck to you!

Hi everyone, I turned in my app on 10/15 and two letter of rec were submitted a week later. I hope it would not affect the result. Now it's the waiting game. My average gpa is not that high, but prerequisites are way better. Hope I can get in or I would need to apply elsewhere outside of California. I rather stay in SF with my family though...

Hi Ksfiles, how is your two year at USF? Is the workload doable? I was told by someone that a passing grade for this program is a B, is that true? If so, are all teachers being helpful?

The workload is doable. Some people in my cohort worked part-time while in the program. This was especially helpful for those who were working in hospitals because they are getting job offers where they'd been working.

At times, semesters will be crazy busy intense and then not-so-much at other times. Profs (and classmates) are very helpful and supportive to ensuring your success of maintaining at least a B average to continue the program.

Hi everyone, I feel like I just want to visit this website less often. Yet, I still do it once every two to three days. It's getting so close to six weeks after the deadline, and I really want to know the result asap. Anyone of you apply elsewhere? USF is the only school that I applied to, so I hope that I will get in, or else I will have to take TEAS or GRE to apply for UCSF and other community colleges.

Which college or universities would look at the applicant as a whole instead of just their grades?

Ksfiles, can u recommend us some nursING calculation books ?

What other programs u applied for two years ago? Do you have any tips for applicants? Thanks.
