Hi guys,
Starting a new thread for USF Ca MSN for Non RN's program.... just submitted my app!!! Super anxious but I am glad I submitted early!!!! Anyone else submitted applications???
I don't think ANY school offers those kind of updates! haha As for stats, it's probably not a good idea to compare yourself to any candidate that has gotten in or applying now since they look at your entire application.
Keep in mind that since there is no interview for USF, aside from your overall and prerequisites GPA, your personal statement and letters of recommendation are what will set you apart from the application pool. We'll find out soon enough. :) All I've heard is that they receive around 300 applications, about 100 are qualified... and only about ~35 get acceptances.
I'm sure there will be more than 300 applicants which means accepting rate will be less than 10%...
I'm trying to tell myself to be positive...however, I'm also thinking about what to do to improve my application if I dun get in...
I'm thinking about what type of volunteer work I can do to increase the chance of admission...a lot of volunteer work includes photocopying and data entry, but I have been doing that 40 hours a week in my workplace...hmmm...really have to think about it...
In my personal opinion, I don't think it's the number of volunteer hours or things you add to your resume that will improve your chances. Evaluate and reflect on your story, your motivations on why you want to be a nurse, show an understanding of the nursing profession (especially CNL), and also highlight your long-term goals. Keep in mind that ELM programs attract many career changers. They want to know why a nurse, why their program, and why now. Their acceptance rate is low, so instead of trying to fit a stat, focus on your unique story. :)
Hi From CA,
Looks like we responded back to this page almost at the same time. I just saw your post and u mentioned about the approximately 300 applicant pool with 35 slots available...I'm just wondering how did u find that out? I was thinking to call the nursing dept last week but I didn't get a chance to do that yet. I went to their open house in June , and i heard that they only take 32 for spring 2016...but I'm guess they may want to offer more available slots...
I guess I will reply for summer if I dun get in the spring
I heard that at an info. session. I mean 32 or 35, does it make a difference? lol On their website they actually state the following:
Approximately how many people apply to the non*â€nurse program? How many do you accept? Do you have a waitlist?
We typically receive between 250-*400 applications per semester, and we admit approximately 40. We keep a waitlist for the relevant application cycle but this waitlist does not roll over the following semester.
