Spring 2016: USF CA Non- RN MSN Program

Published

Hi guys,

Starting a new thread for USF Ca MSN for Non RN's program.... just submitted my app!!! Super anxious but I am glad I submitted early!!!! Anyone else submitted applications???

Do u know when they will send out rejecting emails or letters?

gn2b I think you may be judging yourself to harshly. What's done is done. Just wait to hear what they say. What you are doing now shows commitment to getting in to nursing school. It's not easy working full time and taking classes, it really does show commitment. Just chill for now. Now that all of your classes are out of the way you may think about volunteering. It all depends on what you hear. I was in your spot and all I can say is chill for awhile. Let it come to you. Like I said before, I would be willing to review your stuff and give you a few pointers, depending on the outcome.

Based on my experience, I was one of the first to be called and the call came in the second week of December. They will be sending them out till the day before class. As soon as the have a stable cohort it stops.

That would be fantastic! Do you have any books you'd be interested in selling?

Hi @2dogsandaguy, MSN,

Congrats on finishing the program! Any tips on how to finance the program? or what kind of aid USF offers? scholarship tips?

Thanks in advance!

OMG Luv... Do i have books i'd love to sell. Though in the interest of truth in advertising. I didn't use any of the books. Except for my drug book. Most of the tests are going to be off of powerpoint with the exception of a couple of classes that, well, just are the way they are. So if you are still interested I will sell them to you. Once you get your class list let me know. I know you'll need fundamentals the first semester and I have both volumes. They are new. I have a previous version of fundamentals that is new as well. Never used. I will be reasonable with the price as I know what you are heading in to $ wise.

First of, you'll get the standard Stafford unsubsidized loan. Which is $20,500, distributed in 10,250 for the first two semesters. Though since you are starting in January you might get the first disbursement from 2015 as it is a 2015/2016 deal that will cover the summer semester. Then you go back to 2016/2017 starting in fall. The second summer semester is out of your pocket. You don't get financial aid for that. It starts back in fall of 2017. You also have the option of doing Plus loans which are private. Start looking it up now as far as Plus loans. If you haven't done so yet, fill out your FAFSA for financial aid. They also offer a school scholarship which everyone can apply for, you'll hear more about that after you start. If i recall it is $3500 and they apply it directly to your account.

Thank you!!!!!

One more thing. He second semester is the heaviest and most costly so be prepared for that. Start planning for that financially now sooner than later. No one told us and I was caught off guard. I had to scramble to cover it. one more thing, are you from the bay area?

Sorry i meant the second summer semester.

I am trying to remain as hopeful as possible! I want this SO BAD! 7 weeks exactly today - lets hang in there, guys. :)

I just focus on my other classes now and forget about the wait. Even if I dun get in, I will apply different schools next year. Stay hopeful is the key. ;)
