I applied to the MEPN program for Fall 2011 because I already have my bachelor's but I was wait listed.
Cha12m, Did you apply to Spring 2012 or are you applying for upcoming semesters?
Also, does anyone know if it is possible to work while attending UHM? If so, what are the normal hours of those students? I currently work at a doctor's office M-F.
Hey gocards, I'm pretty sure we're not going to be able to work a M-F kind of job. I looked at the list of classes and it looks like its Monday-Thursday with a 8:30-11:30 class and a 1-5:30 class. It varies but that looks like our schedule for the most part. I talked to a few of the nurses at my job and they said resigning is the best option especially if you have kids and I do, but for me not working is going to be difficult on my family, financially I mean. Well hopefully all of our questions get answered at the orientation... I know I've got a bunch of questions to ask. Stress already and it's only the beginning.
It is possible to work while going to school; but if you have kids, you probably won't see them. Several students work during the weekends. Some even work weekdays, too. I think if your job is at a flexible 24/7 establishment, you'd be able to put in some weekdays. However, I've also heard of people trying to cut back on their hours. I guess it really depends upon the individual. Along the way, you'll find ways to cut corners on the school workload and become more efficient.
going2BaNurse2014 and SNSWTR, do you know what books we will be needing for the upcoming semester? I am hoping to save some money and order some online but that can take quite a while for shipping. I am sure others would be interested in the info also. going2BaNurse2014, I ended up choosing Mrs. Hodges. I was interested in going to the VA for clinicals. My second would've been Tari-Sanchez but luckily I was able to get the VA.
I just want to thank the both of you. It helps so much to be able to ask questions of those who have already been through the first semester. Mahalo!

2cha12m I will be applying to both UHM and KCC for fall 2012. You can take the NLN at KCC. I took my NLN at KCC in july and took my nln again today at UH (no 6 months waiting period). You don't have to wait 6mos. to register. Call KCC and register for it. Brian Akiyama, the admission specialist, said UHM doesn't care about 6 months gap.
