Hi guys, just sending the link to the Facebook group for the Sacramento ABSN 2020 Cohort again. Hopefully it works perfectly this time since I'm on an actual computer and not just my cell phone! You do have to be logged in to facebook when you click on the link for it to work.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/719504251895273/

You should also be able to find it by searching for "Samuel Merritt ABSN - Sacramento Spring 2020" on Facebook

@kasial Thank you for setting up the FB page! I just requested to join. Looking forward to meeting everyone ?

Hi everyone! Congratulations to those of you who have been accepted!! ? wishing you the best in this new and exciting journey! I have been waitlisted 39.0/67.0! For those who have offered to share their essay answers and resume, I would greatly appreciate it if I can have access to them. I would love any help/advice so I can better my application for the next cycle.

@RNVoyage I remember someone telling me that no matter where you land on the wait list, it’s a compliment. They do send straight denial letters to some qualified applicants. So the fact that you made the waitlist tells us that they liked you, they might just need to see you make a few adjustments to your application or to your GPA and then they feel you’re ready to go. Honestly, I was waitlisted into the high 40’s for both of my previous applications, so you’re already doing better than I did my first time!

Thank you so much! Your words are definitely motivating! I am taking your advice on meeting with the admissions counselor face to face for constructive criticism and also to figure out what my gpa was and try to shadow nurses for shadow experience and possible LOR’s.

That would be really helpful! Could you DM me when you get the time?

Hmmm...I don't know how and it doesn't let me send a message.

@MamaKat916

Does the subject line in email for acceptances say congratulations? What was the subject line for wait-list?

So random lol sorry

No worries! The acceptance email has a subject that says “Congratulations! You’ve been accepted to Samuel Merritt University.” And the Wait Lost email had a subject line that said “ABSN Waitlist Notification - Sacramento”. It’s pretty clear before you ever open it what your status is. I hope that helps! Are you still waiting to hear back?

Any idea when they will give an update on the waiting list?

Hey RiverDancer,

I never got updates after the Fall 2019 application cycle. I think people were calling of emailing to get updates. Last year (for Spring 2019) they weren’t scheduled, but they were sent out when significant movement had been made (usually more than 3 places). I wish I had a better answer for you. What number did you get this cycle?

I was asking for a friend of mine who has now been waitlisted twice. She is 11th for Spring 2020. I'm in the 2019 Fall cohort.

That’s what I thought, but wasn’t sure. It took me three times to get in. 11th isn’t bad, she may get in (or at least close enough to get one of those lucky two or three that are offered for next cohort). I would tell her to call or email because the Fall 2019 cohort never got the automated waitlist emails. Hope that helps?
