Spring 2017 Samuel Merritt ABSN

Hi Everyone!

I hope this is not too soon! I am applying to the SM ABSN Sacramento program for Spring 2017. I wanted to connect with some of the other people applying for this same cohort:) Just wondering how everyone's applications are going and if anyone had anything to add to the group. I haven't submitted yet but will probably do so tomorrow after I finish my last essay response. Please tell me I am not the only one doing this totally last minute!

Feel free to share stats and updates as the process moves along. I am looking forward to hearing from some of you - and hopefully getting to know you in January (if things go according to plan:)

Congrats mzdzRN! I've joined the Facebook group and have registered for classes. Excited to meet all of you at orientation!! I need to get started on financial aid but I haven't heard anything from the school (which is what the next step is on the SMU checklist) even though I submitted my FAFSA in October. Has anyone else heard anything or started on their loan? I feel like I need to hurry since January is coming quickly!

HI EVERYONE! I was bummed I got an email stating I was on the wait list. This morning made my day. I got accepted into the spring cohort of San Mateo.. WOOT-WOOT!!

Anyone is SAN MATEO campus?

Hey Sbroker, via SMU financial aid portal it shows that all my documents were accepted and direct subsidized and unsubsidized loans are going to be distributed in January and April.. in addition, my private loans gave me a rate pretty much same day.. hope that helps

Wow first off I am quite saddened regarding the news of Eugenia, she helped me out tremendously throughout the process and also told me that they would honor my TEAS test. Anyways I just found about this thread. I received an email on March 2 telling me I am waitlisted 2.0 of 41. Btw I only applied to the Oakland campus and I also got the very confusing offer for the Sac cohort in September. Also anybody else for a waitlist number that had point zero at the end? If they meant to put 20 of 41 then they are really playing heart attack games right now.

Did anyone take pharm and patho online? If so, where at? I've recently decided to apply to SMU! I had no idea there were so navy prerequisites lol, plus an exam.

It depends on how much you want to spend. I already had mine from 10 years past (yes they still took them!) but you can check out UC Berkeley Extension and see if they do. I did my physiology prereq there since mine was a little old just for a refresher. :) Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions! I'm already in the program

omg ! Congrats on your admissions How long have you been in the program? Are you enjoying it? Would you recommend retaking older courses? A few of my classes are old and I'm scared that I'll fail the program if i don't retake lol! !!Thanks for your response! I'm willing to spend the additional money if it's online lol. I'll check out Berkley!

We're currently on the last week of our first semester! It's been a whirlwind because it goes by fast. I think it depends, some of my classmates did and others didn't. I chose to repeat anatomy and physiology just so that it's not foreign. Patho is important to take, but if you've already taken it, it's ok. I'm doing decent in the class for ABSN. I think the key to the ABSN program is time management, because you're always busy and utilizing resources. Feel free and private message me if you have other questions. :)
