Spring 2018 MDC Nursing Program

Published

My journey started from cna, lpn now,I applied for spring 2018 nursing bridge program. I am looking forward to what it has to offer and the challenges ahead. Anything is possible if you work hard and be persistence in reaching every goal you set for yourself. Always keep a positive mind.

I finished my pre reqs at BCC south campus, I currently live in Hollywood, and I took intro to health care online.

It's crazy because there's only 2 more days to apply and there are so little people in this thread. Not that this thread is indicative of how many people are applying but I had just hoped for a more active thread so that we could all get to know each other and pass the time til October.

Yes I completely know how you feel. Unfortunately I know a few people that have applied but aren't on the forums. I wish it was indicative but we all know it's not. However I have a sneaking suspicion that there are not as many people applying for this semester as we are led to think though.

A lot of people in my intro to health care lab were really afraid of the HESI. To the point where they were contemplating pushing back their application to May for the Aug 2018 class. They were afraid that they hadn't given themselves enough time to study and they had waited so long to register they would only be able to take it once because of the 30 day rule.

Also I was scouring through the forums for spring 2016 again and saw a situation where MDC had inputted the wrong info, GPA and HESI score, for someone and he only found out because he went to question why he hadn't gotten in through the first 2 waves of acceptances since his composite score was really high. I pray that doesn't happen to me. Especially since all my prereqs were taken outside of MDC and at 3 diff schools. I've had to battle with transcript services just to get my classes posted

I asked because I took MGF1106 (I hate math and I saw MDC started to accept mgf) but as always I'm paranoid and I was wondering if anyone is on the same boat. This semester I'm taking micro lab bc I didn't have a chance to take it over the summer and I'm going to see if I can get into a sociology class today, in order to have that done for the bsn program. Just like @jenneraytion, I'm not ready for fall semester lol.

I honestly don't think a lot of people applied this semester. I took the HESI with around 7-8 people and only 3 of us went down to apply. I saw in last years thread that they extend the deadline bc they didn't have enough applicants and people with pretty low cumulative scores (like 79's) were getting accepted!

I really feel like they're going to extend the deadline again this year because like you said I don't think a lot of people have applied.

Another reason I don't want to take sociology right now is the cost. I've done a rough sketch of all the things we're gonna need to do after we get accepted and an estimate of how much it'll cost and it's not looking pretty, lol. But if they have a class available I'll probably end up taking it just to get it out of the way

I took the Hesi today and there were about 20 of us, and I saw several students (maybe 5 - 8) receive their score reports while we were signing in. Also, I specifically inquired about the extension from last spring and the advisor said the deadline is definitely Sept. 1st. I hope this is true because I want ample time to complete our pre enrollment tasks.

@jenneraytion: I applied to the the Accelerated program as well. I took Sociology for 6 weeks this past summer bc I knew I couldn't bear to sit thru that class for 12 weeks. Nevertheless, my prof was Ronald Stubbs at IAC, and it was a breeze.

Hey MsXmas1! And yay for another accelerated applicant! I hope they stay true to the deadline also. The sooner they start going thru these applications the sooner we get our acceptances. And you guys are really convincing me that I should get on this sociology ASAP.

I know it's $100 to reserve your spot in the program and $345 for immunizations and certifications like BLS I believe. Almost $500 and that doesn't even include uniforms and books, FML. Are you guys going to be working during the program?

$100 to reserve a spot?! ***** Mdc is milking us.
