Is there anybody on this board that will be taking Bio189&L at CSN(community college of southern nevada) in the spring? I was able to snag a lecture and lab but they are on different campuses. Does that matter??? This is the first time I have even been able to get into a Biology class. Also, is it possible to trade with someone? I have a lecture at cheyenne campus and that is so far away from me, I'm hoping to get one at Henderson campus.. thanks
I appreciate the sympathy delleh. Really sucks. As far as Angel goes and switching labs, even though no one can get into the actual class prior to the first day of class, the email is still available to view. That's why I suggested logging on to see if anyone had sent out an email also wanting to switch. Good luck with applying. I heard last semester the least points someone had to have was 27, but it is worth the try. I will be applying for the PT track so I will probably need to have closer to 30 to get in.
Steph, let me know if you want the name of the teacher I took for Hist 101 and 102. He was awesome and let us submit anything up until the last day of class. It was really a very easy class compared to others. I signed up for Hist 102 last summer, but end up WD out of it becuase I was also taking 3 other 4 week classes and this teacher wanted HUGE amounts of work done. It was crazy. So it really depends on the teacher.
Hey delleh, will you pm me and tell me who your instructor was for 224? I am really curious to know how much you studied each day. Like I said, this past semester was not good. My mother has cancer and recently hospice began. The weekend prior to finals I spent with her, literally at her side 24/7. So needless to say I didn't even study at all for the finals. It was a choice I had to make, but one I had to live with. I knew worst case scenario I would have to re-take the class but I would never get this priceless time again with my mom. They have estimated she has less than 2 months left. **Words of wisdom: spend as much time with your parents while they are here because one day they won't be.**
Hey Butterfly, for some reason I can't figure out how to reply to your private message. Either I'm just really slow or you need an upgraded membership for that? But thank you! My Math teacher is ****** *******... I think I read good things about him on ratemyprofessor.com. And who was your History teacher? I just checked and there are actually quite a few open spots so I want to snag one as soon as I can! I prefer internet classes cause with a toddler and a husband that works out of town a lot, they make my life much easier. Also, when are you taking your COM class? Spring or summer? And very sorry to hear about your mom, that's horrible and I could not even imagine. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother- I'm sure I would make the same choice if faced with that decision. I can't pm yet because I'm new to the site and I really haven't been posting. If you want, you can send me a message at scubanikki@ aol and I'll let you know my instructor (he wrote the lab manual, so his name is at the bottom of each page, also). I studied mostly on weekends and days of actual exams or lab quizzes. I also had a class after my lab, so I'd usually have a couple of hours in between to study. I recorded lecture and played it back quite a bit. I didn't read all of the chapters, but I did do all of the checkpoints and chapter reviews. I also did the quizzes and tests at my A&P. I know everyone studies differently, but sometimes when my brain refused to absorb something, I'd just write it over and over. Seems ridiculous, but it worked out ok for me. For 223 I ended with an A- and 224 I ended with a B. I've been out of work this semester, so I should have studied more, but I'm just going to blame it on my kids . I know my points won't be what the cutoff was for this spring semester, but I figured it couldn't hurt to apply (I'm not getting any younger). If I don't make it, I'll be applying to the PT program for spring 2012.
Again, I'm really sorry you've been going through that with your mom. My heart breaks for you.
Hey Butterfly, for some reason I can't figure out how to reply to your private message. Either I'm just really slow or you need an upgraded membership for that? But thank you! My Math teacher is James Matovina... I think I read good things about him on ratemyprofessor.com. And who was your History teacher? I just checked and there are actually quite a few open spots so I want to snag one as soon as I can! Maybe it's because you havn't posted enough. I also had the same math teacher. Let me know about the paper I can get to you. Lets just say the History teacher I am referring to has a last name that rhymes with "steel". First name is ****.
Delleh, thank you so much for the kind words.. I would be so happy with the grades you got. I also work FT and care of a disabled person. Every minute is taken.. I am pretty sure it is because I didn't study enough. I estimate I only got in about 3-4 hours a week. Not enough for this class. Should have been doing at least 1-2 hours a day, including weekends. Hopefully I will do much better in the spring. Thanks again for your input.

Hi Steph I will be taking BIO 189 at the cheyenne campus as well Tues and Thursday with the Lab on Wend. I lucked out too the advisor said it was impossible so late in the game Dec 14th but persistence pays off and I got a slot. My class is around 9ish am though and the lab is at 2:30p but hey maybe we will cross paths or we could atleast relate to one another. lol I am just getting started on my prereq's although I have alreday taken quite a few classes at another college (was studying for a BA in Business but changed my mind JR year lol) Eng 101, College Algebra, Statistics, SOC 101 and Com 101. My goal is to transfer to NSC either Fall '11 or Spring '12. Just wanted to say Hi and wish ya good luck!
Hi theirmommy, I will be taking the lecture at cheyenne from really early morning and the lab at Henderson monday nights and wednesday nights I think. The lecture is going to be so hard for me! I live on the SW side of town and the traffic that early will be horrible! I'm kind of just starting out too, but I'm just pushing through every semester not taking any breaks for summer or anything. I have heard good things about NSC, so good luck with that. Maybe we will cross paths down the road in the BIO classes.. I'm hoping to take 224 in fall2011, assuming I can get through this 189!
Do you swap classes with anyone yet, I have a Biol class in Henderson that I want to swap with someone at Cheyenne/Charleston Campus, my biol class is Monday Wednesday 7:30p/ 8:50 and Lab is Wednesday from 4p/7p
you can email me at [email protected].
thanks
Irma

Thanks delleh, I really am re-thinking the whole PSC thing. I think I will try to get a HIST class... the easier the better. And I'm so glad to hear the Math class isnt too difficult, I'm definitely not a math person so that gave me a little hope. Good luck with applying! I hope everything works out for you!
