Our local community college here in Florida has a three year wait list. Could you just do what ever pre req's you may need and then get in in a year? time goes by so fast, it will be here before you know it.

Do you know what number you are on the list? Things happen while people are on a waiting list and it is likely that some of those first 30 people will not sign up for nursing classes for one reason or another. It is possible that some of them turned to another school for nursing or, like you have been thinking about, went into an LPN program because they didn't want to wait. A lot of things can change for people over a 4 month period. Since you already have a bachelor's degree I doubt that you will be as happy in an LPN program as you will be in the RN program. If you do have to wait one more semester, make sure you definitely have all your pre-reqs completed so when you do get in the nursing classes you will have nothing else to study but the nursing itself. The school I went to years ago gave priority on the waiting list to those who had finished all their pre-reqs. Perhaps your school does the same.

You could consider the LPN program. We have an articulation program here at the local CC's and Universities, LPN's can enter the 2nd year of the RN program (just two semesters left of the RN program) and finish their RN that way.

It seemed like an LPN wanting to articulate didn't have to waitlist, ect...

I am starting school this spring finishing up pre-requisites for an ADN program. I already have a Bachelors degree and only need a few more classes. Anyway I was so excited at the possibility of going to school in the fall. My was I suprised to hear that of course there is a waiting list from the last class. Out of 44 spots, 30 are already guranteed to those who wait listed last year. So now I'm very frustrated- Is it possible to get in w/ only 14 seats? I am now considering the LPN program at the same school. That particular program only requires the Pre-PN exam. However, I've already been to school once and don't want to find out that I will have to wait again. Anyone else in the same boat???!!

Is there a possibility that you could look into your local universities and see if you could get into a BSN program? If you already have a degree and the pre-reqs for the ADN program, you may not need anymore pre-reqs for the BSN.

The BSN program at the university I graduated from has an agreement with a private college. It is way too expensive for me to attend since I would only qualify for loans. Plus the prerequisites are more than the cc. It's a very difficult decision because I could apply to the program and finish my prereqs next semester. However if I'm not accepted I will have completed all my classes and have to apply again. They only base your gpa off the co-req classes. My grades are good, but now I'm considering the LPN program. We shall see come February 1st.
