depends on where on the lumbar spine. If it's upper lumbar, probably. Lower lumbar, probably not (going from my own personal experience, rather than clinical knowledge)
They can set the field to limit its size. In part, this means they can bill more for thoracic and lumbar imaging, rather than just one procedure (even thought they are done at the same time). It depends on what the physician requests.

If a lumbar MRI is performed, is the mid back thoracic spine visible as well? Thanks :-)
