Specialty that Best Prepares for RN exam

Published

Hi all! I am a second year nursing student in Quebec, Canada. I have one year left of nursing school until I write my licensing exam from the OIIQ. After we graduate from college, we have a few months before we write the licensing exam, during that period we work as GPLs. I have heard from previous instructors and nurses that the best area to gain experience from in terms of preparing one for the exam is medicine. I personally much prefer surgical floors, and i was wondering if doing general surgical nursing during that period would also be beneficial in terms of preparation for the final exam, or if I should suck it up for a year and do medicine anyway. I welcome any advice for new nursing grads in terms of what area would be best to prepare them for the exam. Thanks all :)
