hi,
i am reentering the nursing field and am wondering if trying to specialize is going to help or hurt my marketability? any thoughts? thanks

i don't think it would hurt. you can always change specialties. i think in many areas of the country right now, it's a matter of taking a job in any specialty that's hiring.

Some specialties cross boundaries.
For example, ICU skills are needed in many areas outside the ICU. If you have these skills, you have a head start in applying to the ED, recovery room, radiology nursing, and other areas.
I did work ICU/CCU years ago when I first practiced but now an out of the specialty 11 years and (3 years outpatient Cardiac Rehab)...trying to figure out whether to go back to the units or floors or something else. Thanks
