SPC Fall 2019

Published

Hey, everyone! I've been looking for a thread about fall applications for SPC Nursing program, but nothing yet! It may be early, since the application period just started on March 1st, but here we go! I applied as soon as it opened , and I'm crossing my fingers until the July 1st. Anyone else applied or planning to do it soon? Let me know your thoughts and plans, we are all together in this one ? .

so we have to wait until orientation to get information about the this skills kit?? Thank you so much for answering

You won’t need it right away so don’t sweat it

Vaccines you might want to do titers at the health dept most likely you will need very few of the actual shots required from the titer results. Skills kits are the medical apparatus that you utilize for your skill check offs before clinicals it’s like the IV bags gauze pads Sterile gloves etc

Truly relax they will walk you through most of your questions at orientation and they will give you plenty of time to complete it all take a deep breath this is the easy part

I got my titers done last month. I had all my vaccines. But I still got the first of 2 HEP A shots (the next shot is in 6months(20$) and I'm going to get the TDAP(60$) when I feel better(sick).

Just finished my drug test for urine plus alcohol, doing fingerprints tmrw. I'm doing CPR class this Saturday. It seems like a lot of small things to do, but it's not that bad. As far as shots, go to the Health Department, I think it's the cheapest. They will draw blood for your titers, and then you will know what you need as far as shots. That's my next step.

you all might check shot prices at CVS , Publix , etc vs Health Dept

You think it might be cheaper there? I checked CVS minute clinic, it seams expensive, but ill definitely double check. Thanks!

I only needed two but I had ins too I got both of mine from Publix I’m just saying check with them but do the titers first

For sure, I will! Thanks again! While you are here, wanted to ask, should we get scrubs before the orientation or wait until then? And also, what kind of shoes do we need, I heard it’s all white leather sneaker but shouldn’t show brand or something like that? Thanks for the info, I’m just trying to figure out the money for all this ?

You won’t need scrubs until classes start From what I remember on the shoes they need to be either black , brown or white with matching color socks but confirm that

I’m feeling overwhelmed. Before orientation we need the drug test, background check and finger prints submitted, right? But do our vaccines/titers and CPR certification need to be completed before then?

As long as the shoe is one color and the logo blends in, is that ok? Ex: Skechers/Nike logo is on shoe, but blends in because it is an all white shoe with a white logo.

You do not need the vaccines/titers and CPR cert to be done by then.
