Hello! I have not seen any posts for the Fall 2016 at St. Pete College yet!
Probably because it is too early.
Anyone else applying?
Stats?
I have a 3.5 Prereq GPA, and 3.7 Cumulative GPA.
Hmarieb1010, here is a link to the admissions guide: http://www.spcollege.edu/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=12759If that doesn't work for you, go to Admission to Nursing A.S. Degree Program at SPC and click on "Admissions Guide"
Pretty much only Pinellas county residents get accepted to the program, but I don't know how long you have to reside in Pinellas county.
I asked this question of the advisor - there is no time requirement. You just have to be able to prove that on the day you submitted your application you were officially a resident. He specifically told me it could even be the same day.
He also told me that all of the seats get filled with qualified Pinellas residents first, and then IF there are seats left, they start to look at out of county residents.
We finished the conversation with him telling me that in the however many years he'd had the job, he hadn't once seen someone from out of Pinellas county get in.
I didn't want to move just for the 'privilege' of being able to be considered, so I moved my focus to other nursing programs.
Hello all! I am applied as well and I have all prerequisite done and a 3.7! Something is odd about other people's gpas from the other thread from nursing 2015. Like someone said " I have a 4.0 with no micro". They wouldn't have a 4.0 then? Since with the spc gpa calculator their gpa would be a 3.46. Someone else commented that they didn't make it in without micro and they had a 3.86 which doesn't make sense either because using the calc they would have also gotten a 3.4. And another lady said she got a 3.84 without micro and with one B but that would have a been a 3.36 and said two of her friends had gotten in with all A's and no micro which again is a 3.4. When I first read all these I freaked out that they had good GPAs and weren't getting in. But I don't get how they had gotten their higher gpas if they used the calculator correctly? I just found it odd. And yes I had the spare time to calculate all of theirs lol
I'm guessing they have a "4.0" so far given that they pass micro with an A also. My friend got in with all A's while still finishing up micro..that was for the spring of 2015. So I think if you have all prerequisites done w 3.7 then you may have more points than someone who a 4.0 and no micro..I would have to recheck on the calculator lol. I have all prerequisites done and have a 3.8. Hoping the competition isn't too fierce lol.
Hey everyone! I'm at the end of Level 2 so if you have any more questions maybe I can help :) There are a few people in my clinical group who are from out of county, so not sure how true what they said is! Before I got my acceptance they did not notify us until the last day, so it will most likely be July 1st. Also, orientation was about 2 weeks after we were notified. For the GPA point system, having all your pre reqs completed is very important so that's why you might hear of people with lower GPA's getting in before people with might have a higher GPA, but don't have all their pre reqs done. Hope this helps!
