SPC Fall 2016

Published

Hello! I have not seen any posts for the Fall 2016 at St. Pete College yet!

Probably because it is too early.

Anyone else applying?

Stats?

I have a 3.5 Prereq GPA, and 3.7 Cumulative GPA.

does anybody know what books besides the fundamentals book we will really need for the first semester? I'm looking into renting from amazon but i don't want to get everything recommended and not use them or rent something I will need for a future semester (it might be better to buy those books). thanks

Most of the books you will need (required books not recommended) throughout nursing school. I just bought them. They have a package through the books store that is cheaper than buying individually. If you do hear of good study aid books (there are a TON) I would recommend Amazon or eBay. I personally prefer just having the books. But that's just me :)

Where are y'all getting you're TB tests done at? I can get my first step up here, but I don't know where to get the second part down there.

I'm doing the health department. It's $25 per shot (including the reading of the result of the shot).

So I'm a little confused, I have my scheduled finger print on the 25th, do I also get my background and drug test done as well at the same place/same time?

No. They're two separate locations. I had my fingerprints done at a UPS store and my drug screen done at a Lab Corp. facility. For each, you need to print off a form that you give to them at your scheduled appointment. The fingerprints are used to do the background check.

Just curious, but I thought all this was due on the 15th???

I was an alternate so my orientation is the 26th!

Dont we have to get our fingerprints done at a place called Daon? And I also didn't get a form to fill out! I just don't want to be missing anything lol

Just curious, did anyone apply from Hillsborough (or any county outside of Pinellas) and successfully receive an offer?

I'm hoping for an ABSN program admission, but of course not discounting the associate's route. It looks like SPC offers "priority" to Pinellas residents. I see it as almost pointless applying there (I doubt very much SPC will run out of qualified candidates and just decide to call me!), but figured I'd ask.

Thanks!

From what I understand, they only take non-pinellas county residents after considering all pinellas county residents. So, in short, I don't think it's possible for you to get in if you're not a pinellas county resident.

It shouldn't be different for you guys (the process). You buy the package from castle branch and under the background check, you locate a place to have your fingerprints done, make an appointment and print out a form that you bring to your appointment. I can't remember the name of the company but they contract through other places (like the UPS store I went to). As you've already paid for the castle branch package, you've already paid for the fingerprinting/background check so you just have to make an appointment and bring that form you print off from your castle branch page.

They are making you guys use castle branch, right?
