Hello! I have not seen any posts for the Fall 2016 at St. Pete College yet!
Probably because it is too early.
Anyone else applying?
Stats?
I have a 3.5 Prereq GPA, and 3.7 Cumulative GPA.
Hi,Current nursing student here. The first semester books are so expensive but they include a good majority for future semesters (any specialty like ob, psych, or peds will be bought separately for that semester). The main book used in level one is your fundamentals book along with maybe your therapeutic communication, care plan, and a very small amount from your med/surg book. Med/Surg book is mainly used after level one.
As for uniforms they are all navy blue scrubs. Much better than our previous uniforms.
Hope that helps :)
Are level 1 books packaged together at the bookstore? Or is it better to buy online somewhere else?
They have a pack that is like 600$ something rather than the full 1200. So DO NOT buy them separately. I'd buy them at the book store and do it early. Same goes for the skills kit. Do it at your orientation if you can or at least order the package. They ran out and a lot of people had to wait. From what I remember all the books and codes you need are included. I bought ebooks and print from what a previous student told me but never ended up using the ebooks. I'm sticking to just print from now on.
I've heard from previous students that they didn't even open the recommended books. I'm only going to buy the required books. I called the bookstore to ask what books are in the packages. A lot of them are included, but not all of them. Don't forget that if you're using student aid, there's only like a $500 line of credit for books maximum.

I don't get financial aid so I will only buy the books required. Guess I will find out tomorrow..I will update you guys and let you know how much I spent
None of the recommended books are included in the package. They are all required, but just because you don't use it this semester doesn't mean you won't use it in other semesyrrs. I do not blame you though. Only book that I would recommend other than what's required it the Saunders NCLEX review. The way they set things up you can have an extra resource for tests and of course the NCLEX. Plus, half the battle of nursing school is figuring out how to break down the nursing style questions. Having extra questions to look at and review really helped me.
I personally liked the fundamentals review that they recommended but that's only for fundamentals. There are also some nursing pocket guides. I have RN, Med/Surg, and documentation in the pocket guides. I think the RN is recommended but you can get those on Amazon for cheap. Also the ATI nursing review books. I didn't use them last semester but my friend did and said they really helped. I plan on using them a lot next semester! Amazon or eBay are great for books anyone recommends. I got all 11 ATI books (which were priced at 150$) for 40$ on eBay. Only do the required books through the school because those are cheap.
I also recommend finding a study buddy in your class the first week. You'll notice everyone kinda pairs off. It is stressful but having a friend on the same page reduces stress!!
