Southwestern College ADN Fall 2019

Published

Hi everyone! I’m starting this thread so we can share our application criteria points with each other! I just turned in my application today. I have between 85 and 88 points. I have 3 B’s on my science prerequisites :((, 4.0 gpa for all the general Ed courses. I have fluency in Spanish, an associates degree, CNA, and volunteer experience. I scored an 88 on my TEAS! I hope they can look past my grades in my prerequisite courses and I get in!!! I hope we all get into this cohort! Good luck everyone

Hopefully we hear back next week!!!! I keep checking my email and nothing but financial aid stuff.?‍♀️ Also, I keep hearing about needing to pass with 70s or 75s. Is that final grades? Like you have to have a C in all classes to pass the program or is it for every exam?

Hello the program at swc you must pass the whole class with a final grade of 78% you need a 78% on your exams to not go to remediation which is where you review your exam and go over missed questions.

How many exam do they have and how many remediation allow to ?

In the thread from last year I saw some people got accepted with 76? Think I need to bust out the Tequila bottle to calm my nerves for a few days ;)

I got in with 73 I’m pretty sure if not 74 it’s going to be okay a lot of the people who have the high 80’s get accepted to multiple schools not saying that you won’t either but that is what cleared room for the alternatives those who got to go to their school of choice did so. Swc was my first choice not everyone who applies is applying because it’s their first choice it could be to secure a seat in a RN program. The evening in my cohort has 20 students only like five if I remember correctly where there from first pick about 10-15 of us where alternatives. Also don’t bug them when the letters go out if your an alternative wait about two weeks and then call this is what I did they called be back the same day to offer me a position in the program ?but don’t bug them whatever you do at the office ? think positive guys

@Caligirl85 Southwestern is my first choice too. It is closest to where I live. I hate driving so this school works best for me. I am more worried about my paperwork honestly. I did not have the some paperwork come in time so I had to substitute with other proof. I am unsure if they will accept it.

To those applying for Step-Up. How did you do with the Calc Test?

I think I did alright. The Calculation Test was easier than I had expected, especially since there were many of us and not so many spots available. What about you?

That was i thought too. Atleast the 1-9 items.

The last one made me confused ?

Is it really only 10 available spots?

I’m pretty Sure if something is missing they will call you for it. If I remember correctly I think they let you in still and ask for the papers they are missing I know some people didn’t have everything right and got in and had to turn in the papers I remember being surprised because I too was scared of it wasn’t right my application would be thrown out. Don’t worry ? your going to be ?

Right, the last one was confusing. I was told last year they accepted 10 LVN's... I am not sure how many spots they will have available this year ?

I think I did ok, it was easier than I thought it was going to be. Although a few applicants told me it was harder this year...so I'm not sure how things will turn out.

It wasn't as hard as i thought it would be. i expected more IV questions. On the last question, there was a comment that said "dose may be doubled in case of severe fever".

Did any one include the"doubled" dose as well as the regular dose?

Has anyone gotten any emails about acceptances?! This wait is killing me :(
