Southwestern College ADN Fall 2019

Hi everyone! I’m starting this thread so we can share our application criteria points with each other! I just turned in my application today. I have between 85 and 88 points. I have 3 B’s on my science prerequisites :((, 4.0 gpa for all the general Ed courses. I have fluency in Spanish, an associates degree, CNA, and volunteer experience. I scored an 88 on my TEAS! I hope they can look past my grades in my prerequisite courses and I get in!!! I hope we all get into this cohort! Good luck everyone

76 last year I didn’t have my AS degree in on time for the application.

Wow! Really I thought people were getting in with 75s last cohort! Yea I'm nervous because I didnt have my actual diploma for my associates because it takes months to get it but I gave them proof I completed my A.S. degree. I'm not sure if they'll accept it.

I thought people got in with mid 70's last year as well? Now I am nervous!!

Oh God now I’m stressing!?

In the thread from last year I saw some people got accepted with 76? Think I need to bust out the Tequila bottle to calm my nerves for a few days ;)

@NurseSwe me too. I seen in last years cohort a girl that got an acceptance call like 2 weeks before class started and she was an alternate at 74 points. All the other alternates got accepted right away and were able to make the orientation but she had to wait super close to start date. Crazy to think you would have to reapply then getting a call for acceptance at the last minute. ?

It’s not just about the points tho. If you did your paperwork correctly and everything they ask for is there. Dont stress about your points not being enough they look at more than just that.

What else do they look at on your paperwork? I'm nervous about my points too.

Heyyyy @AspiringDNP I was literally the lassssttttt freaking alternate. They called me like a day or two before class even started. I had a total of 75-76 points depending if they counted those life points or not. I couldn’t believe I had made it for that years cohort. I had less points bc i didn’t have my associates. But worse scenario I would be applying this year bc I’d be in the low 80’s but thankfully I was lucky to have barely made it. I know how excited all of you must be! Regardless if you get an alternate letter or not there is still hope! Lots of ppl choose their first choice in school. Good luck to all of you! And never give up

@Xm92 Hey! Yup, it was you. I remember your username. Crazy stuff!!! I was so happy for you when I read you finally got in! How is school going?

Hopefully we hear back next week!!!! I keep checking my email and nothing but financial aid stuff.?‍♀️ Also, I keep hearing about needing to pass with 70s or 75s. Is that final grades? Like you have to have a C in all classes to pass the program or is it for every exam?
