Southwestern College ADN Fall 2019

Hi everyone! I’m starting this thread so we can share our application criteria points with each other! I just turned in my application today. I have between 85 and 88 points. I have 3 B’s on my science prerequisites :((, 4.0 gpa for all the general Ed courses. I have fluency in Spanish, an associates degree, CNA, and volunteer experience. I scored an 88 on my TEAS! I hope they can look past my grades in my prerequisite courses and I get in!!! I hope we all get into this cohort! Good luck everyone

Thank you. This group has been nothing but great. You guys have really kept my anxiousness down. Does anyone know the possibly of alternates getting in? And how many alternates they've selected?

I think it's just 10 of us initially. Apparently most, if not all have gotten in from what I have seen and been told!

I don't want to be over confident, but I think optimism within reason is good! I try to think of the law of attraction for things like this!!! ? lol

Girl, we got this!!!!

They usually start with 60 then then there can be about 10 LVN step ups that join you second year. Usually 40 for day and 20 for evening the evening class gets the majority of the lvn step up students so you’ll be a small class for a year if you do evening.

I didnt even think of that? that evening would be small because lvns come in later.

?? I'm so sorry. Did they ever call you for missing paperwork?

Not sure what the final count was ?

Does anyone have info on how many people on the alternate list typically get in?

Or anyone following this who was accepted, and will be denying? Lol

When I talked to a counselor while I was making my Student Education Plan, she told me they accept 10-15 alternates.

I'm not sure who you are asking about points but I had 81-83 points. And I'm not sure how it is determined. Maybe they are looking for certain things in the application plus points. Who knows other than the people doing the selecting.

I just went and looked back on allnurses 2018 swccd cohort, there were 15 alternates! Many of them got in, the office will call to confirm you want to accept verbally, then they will send you an email to confirm acceptance via email. But we can't hope they will do the same for our cohort since we have a new director.
