Need some info on the Evening/Weekend program at Southwest Tennessee Community College.

How long is the program?

Can you transfer into the program?

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks.:idea::idea::idea::idea:

Hey Guys. I just got accepted into the fall 2010 nursing program at Southwest. I have no idea what to expect, accept hell from what I'm reading! Someone told me that there's no way to prepare yourself for the program. Can anyone give me some advice? I'll take any I can get! Can you choose which teachers you want? When reading Rate my Professors, the teachers sound HORRIBLE except for a handful. Any advice on the best way to study and how to pass tests? Which are the toughest classes? Thank you so much for any advice. I'm just apprehensive. :uhoh3:

Hello - I just found out that I am going to have a 76 in A&P I which is a 2.6? Would you recommend re-taking the course? I have quit working and am fully prepared to get A's in A&P II and Micro. I talked to someone and she didn't give me a clear answer when I asked.

Specializes in ICU.

I would retake it. A also think a 76 = C = 2.0, not 2.6. The A&P/Micro grades have the largest influence on your admission. I would take A&P again this summer and then do A&P II and Micro in the fall.

ETA: On second thought, maybe take A&PII and Micro and if you get an A, apply and see what happens. You can always retake A&P I after you take A&P II. If you don't get in with your C, you can retake A&P I, then wait a whole year to reapply.

Have you taken the NLN yet?

I think I would probably take A&P over again. You get 16 pts. for an A. I think you get 12 pts. for a B, I'm not sure of this though. So if you get A's in A&P I and II and Micro. it's 48 pts. These subjects definitely hold the most weight.

Congrats to you!!!!! If you don't mind me asking, what grades did you receive in A&P I/II and Microbiology? What was your NLN score??

Getting accepted of course is the first step. You obviously have worked very hard to get in. You will understand why you are there and hopefully it just comes natural to you as far as the studying is concerned. Even though many will tell you that nursing school is extremely difficult. But anything worth having isn't easy.

And not to mention, too many people have done it and you will be no exception. I wish you the best of luck. I will be applying for January 2011 entrance and I am very excited yet nervous also.

I got A's in A&P I and II and Micro. 4.0 GPA and 119 on the NLN. My score on the NLN was not that good but the factor that holds the most weight are your grades in A&P and Micro. You'll do fine, just strive for A's. I know people that were accepted that had lower GPA's and made a B in A&P I but an A in A&PII and Micro. Their score on the NLN was also right above 100. Just do your best and it will pay off!

I will have to take both this summer, since I am applying for spring admission to the nursing program. I am not looking forward to these courses in such a short time, either. I am leaving my job to accomplish this.

Hi there. I was just wondering if you have already registered for your summer classes? If you so, what classes and times did you sign up for? I signed up for Micro M-Thurs. 5:30-9:35 Summer I and A&PII M-Thurs. 5:30-9:15 Summer II. Did anyone else sign up for either of these classes???

Darn! We are taking our courses in opposite terms and times. I am registered for AP2 for Summer 1 at 7:30am MWF, and Micro for Summer 2 at 8:00am MWF...do you know who your instructors are yet?

Hmmmm, maybe we can help each other through the 2nd summer term : ) !

I don't think the instructor's name has been listed yet. Well, I have to take the night classes since I work during the day. But either way, I am so determined to get excellent grades. Now the only thing left to worry about is the NLN. Southwest still hasn't posted the date of the exam but my friend is the Director of Testing at Southwest and she said that it will be administered in July but she doesn't have the exact date yet.

When I lchecked a couple of weeks ago, I was told the same thing and the actual dates won't be released until the end of June. Are you taking it in July? It's also offered in August (twice) and once in September. I am not sure what date I want to test for. I will probably go in August when these two summer courses are over with.

Don't take ***** for Micro. Try and get **** for A&P.

Most of the teachers have been listed now for the classes, and I don't have either of these people.
