This would be my dream profession. Any RN's in S. Cali who are living the dream have
any advice/suggestions on how a new grad can break into this profession? I know there are
$2-3k certs that I can take but this won't guarantee me a job ;(
Any good words or suggestions for me?
Thanks in advance,

I live in LA and I'm interested too since PS is really prevalent in LA. I have a friend who is a new grad RN who just got hired at a plastic surgeons office. She said that a handful of places just wanted her to be a licensed RN & trained on the job. So I'd start looking at different PS offices in Beverly Hills or near you & just ask what their RN hiring requirements are.

How much does your friend make working at the plastic surgeon's office since she's a new grad? I'm a new grad RN as well and i'm looking into becoming a nurse esthetician somewhere in Beverly Hills too. Did you or your friend have to get an aesthetic license?

If you can't get into a PS office also try med spas. They will usually pay for half your training, get your experience then move up to a PS office. I just do this part time as a stress reliever since I'm a correctional nurse:) just my two cents

First time hearing of this oppurtunity. Sounds lucrative and very fun.

Check out Skin Savvy Aesthetics. They are located in Scottsdale, but it may be worth the drive to spend a weekend taking a training course. She was less expensive than most of the courses I looked at and the other one I took previously. I liked her because she keeps classes small, offered to write me a recommendation letter for employers because she liked my technique, and she taught me some advanced areas that I didn't get with my first basic training...

The Academy of Aesthetics and Laser Medicine is a good place to get certs in So Cal. Cheaper than other places and have been teaching for almost 10 years. http://www.aalmtraining.com is the website.

This is great, I had no idea there were specific certificates or training to help get a RN position in a Plastic Surgeons Office. I just moved to San Diego and realized there might be opportunities for RNs as educators as well as giving treatments. After 22 years on the floors, the IV team, and Home Health I am ready for a 9-5, less stressful environment than patient care. Thanks for the names of the schools.

I was interested in this field to open my own med spa in NY but it would need to be over seen by a Dr
