South University tampa BSN

Published

I am a student in the BSN program and South University Tampa and love it! I am writing this because when I looked for information on the school before I went I could barely find any information. The school is very expensive however the teachers are great, and the program is very organized. The actual nursing program is 21 months long not including pre reqs. The selection process includes more than just GPA. I just wanted to put out some information for anyone interested.

You might have issues getting books from current students because they changed the sequence of courses for you guys. You are taking pharm 1 first quarter which we started this quarter. I already sold my physical assessment book on amazon. Used books are they way to go, way more affordable. Goo luck with everything!

Ah yes, ok that makes sense, would you mind sharing the names of the books that you had for your first quarter and who the authors were if you have time? Intro to profession of nursing, principles of assessment and ...including the pharmacology...I would love to get a jump start.

Congrats! I have also been accepted into the BSN April program in Tampa campus. Cant wait for the schedule of classes to be released!

Thats awesome! Very cool! I've been trying to get all the requirements taken care of like the physical (which is actually taking forever to get all the tests) and the uniforms just came in in my size…background check, drug test etc etc…ugh lord!…..so far I think I've spend $700 thats not including the $500 acceptance fee..Def ready for the classes to be released…Do you know where they're gonna be posted? On out student portal or do we need to go to the school to get our schedule etc?

Hey sorry I do not remember all of the books plus I heard they may be changing some of them. My advice is to relax while you can! You will have time once the quarter starts to learn everything. You can pick up the schedules at the front desk they just won't have your lab times on there. Everyone in my class got their first choice so I wouldn't worry about that. Good luck!

Cool thanks for the info!

The list of some of the books required and recommended for this quarter are available to students at this time, and I was told we automatically are signed up for classes, SU student portal, they will also be available during orientation

What stethoscope did you get? I was trying to decide on a color and type…I'd like something that matches at least a little with our ugly orange tops …LOL… but was wondering what others are getting? I know color does really matter, but I was just curious….still deciding. I didn't wanna get there and everyone in our class has the exact same colors.. haha

I chose sky blue color and I like it :) don't forget there is only one type/model of it. Definitely think about engraving your initials/name or having some type of identification in it (being that we have clinicals or will work in hospitals, this might come in handy)

Awesome! yea I just ordered mine today. Got the Olive color one. Goes well with the school colors.

Hey had a another question for you, as far as nursing shoes go, I know they want us to get "all white" but are they picky about the shoes having any colors on them?......colors like gray or light blue? Like a colored nike check or maybe a gray or light colored sole? Thanks in advance!

Technically they are supposed to be all white. Many students have colored nike checks ect and no one has said anything. We are getting a new program director so please be aware that they may be more strict on certain things.
