If I remember correctly, their NP program was only available on campus not too long ago. How long has the online NP been established? Has anyone here on allnurses.com attended and graduated from the online program? If so, how was your overall experience?
Here's the link to the program webpage:

Would live to hear all of you guys thoughts! I searched allnurses for more info but it yielded no profitable results. Thanks!
Hello every one I reading through the comments I was wondering what you guys though of SU Online and I was also wondering Is anyone enrolled for the Allied Heath Science course? Im scared and thinking about withdrawing from the school because of the horrible reviews Ive read but i also I only did My fasfa Yesterday Is it too late to get out of this?
flyezz, I "assume" you are going into the MSN program? If so, they prefer your preceptors are NPs, at least 50% must be done with a NP preceptor. You are looking for general family practice offices, and many have NPs working. Ask around to see what doctors have a good rep then contact the office managers to see if they are willing to take on a NP student about a year down the line. You can also try your local NP chapter and see who is willing to act as a preceptor...most of these provide a list of NPs who are wiling. Good luck!
Thank you lhflanurse, sorry for the late reply, I didn't know there was a reply. But yes I am kinda scared because of the negative comments i read about the school. The admission representative are very pressuring. l just don't want to waste my money and get ripped off.
Hi, I will be starting the FNP program this monday June 2nd. Just wondering how things are going for you? How did you like the program? I too am a new grad RN with little experience and found it better for me to just keep going rather than take that educational break and have to learn all over again. What are the classes like? I will be starting in NUrsg600 Advanced Nursing Practice 1. They transferred 4 of my classes over. Do they use any of the MSN hours from your previous program as well? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Please email me when you can [email protected]
Inflanurse, Your insight has been great. Anything you can think of to help me along my journey would be awesome. I will be starting Advanced Nursing Practice 1 first. Please email me when you can. [email protected] Congrats on being almost done! I can't wait to get there!!
hello guys, I am scheduled to start in June, if anyone is in the same situation and would like us to work together please FEEL FREE TO MESSAGE me. if you stay in Houston Texas EVEN BETTER.I don't know how to find preceptors if anyone knows how tell me. Do I just go to clinics by my area and ask them??
Hi flyezz, I will be starting the FNP program this June 2nd as well. Let's stay in touch [email protected]
I started the FNP program at South June of 2012. I was in the initial group of students accepted into the program with the reinstatement of the online program. I will be completing the program August 16, 2014. I will say the program has been bumpy but completely worth it. A few tips: 1. You can take more than one course at a time-This is what slowed my class, so ask your academic adviser. 2. It may be easy to find preceptors, but the gathering the required paperwork is more difficult. 3. There is a clinical coordinator and academic adviser for help, but students must be autonomous because you are pretty much on your own. $. The program is what you make it. 5. Expect to do some form of homework 4 days a week, especially during practicum courses. This is the short list. If any one has any questions, I will answer the best I can!
