I'm about 20 minutes from Greenville. There is Greenville Tech (they have LPN and 2yr. RN). You can transfer over to the University of South Carolina Upstate to finish your 4 year. A great website for the community is
http://www.greenvilleonline.com
Also, several major hospital systems here. http://www.ghs.org is one of them.
BTW, there are other schools in the area...greenville tech is the one I've had experience with. http://www.greenvilletech.com
Good luck with the move and with school!

I'm in West Columbia, SC, so I don't think I could give you any helpful info. about Greenville....other than it's about an hour, hour and 1/2 from here.
I can tell you that the wait list to start the ADN program at my school (Midlands Technical College) is admitting right now for Fall 2009. Huh, you say? Yes, Fall 2009. I started calling around to find out the waiting time for other programs. If the people in Admissions can't tell you, they can point you to someone who can.
Is Greenville the only place in SC you'd go?? I'm kinda partial to Columbia, myself. However, if you're looking for diversity of options, maybe Charleston would be better.
Good luck either way!!!!!
Whoopsy....yes, word on the street is that there is a waiting list for greenville tech. I forgot to mention that Spartanburg tech also has a nursing program. I live in Greer...btwn Spartanburg and Greenville. No beaches, but close to the mountains. I would have to say that Myrtle Beach is a good 41/2-5 hr drive.

I am from S. C. I would say Greenville has a very good program. One of my family members trained there. I ended up training in United Kingdom in London. I do have a question a little off the topic. I have a Dip. Higher Education in Nursing I am an RN do any of you know how this translates to the USA system? Hope ya'll have a good day. Best of luck getting into ya'll nursing programs. Thanks :balloons:
Hmm. I would think that your whatever degree you hold wouldn't be a problem. You would have to take State Boards for whatever State you'd like to practice. I'm unsure if you'd need a special course, but I'm thinking that would be a state decision. You miss saying ya'll don't cha'? Come back any time...same grits and sweet tea...and the bbq is KILLER!!!!:balloons:

USC Upstate in Spartanburg doesn't have a waiting list. They take you on gpa and credentials and if you don't get in one semester, just re-apply next semester. The only problem with the school is they are starting a new cirriculum and are still working the kinks out of it to the dismay of the students. Good Luck!
