Sore thumb from IVs and Charting, normal or not?

Published

has anyone ever had a sore thumb from works days or weeks straight? my right thumb has been sore at the joint from all the IVs and charting I've done. I've tried to use my left whenever i remember but apparently its not getting enough of a break. AM i weird, I can't be the only one right? I'm afraid I'll have carpel tunnel of thumb before i retire!!

Weird, my right thumb has been sore lately as well! But, I wasn't sure why it had been sore. Maybe it is from all of the typing.

My thumb falls asleep when I am writing for a long period of time but only if I am using a skinny pen or pencil. If I use a fat one, it's fine. Apparently, I don't hold a pen properly. When it happens, my thumb will go numb sometimes days after. Weird.

i've had a sore wrist after a few twelve hour shifts with patients who receive a lot of ivps, so i don't see why a sore thumb would be odd. if it's been getting more work or unusual work, it makes sense to me! i hope it feels better (and i really hope you have some time off coming to you :onbch:!)

take care,

jess

yeah i think its the whole clamping unclamping/squeezing the chamber/spiking new lipids and TPNs business. I work nights and we give all products and ryders so its alot of new tubing that needs putting up. i guess i should get bigger pens too huh, good advice thanks!
