Hello

My name is Angela. I will be graduating this coming summer and I'm looking to move. Right now I live in Minnesota. I'm looking at a few different states and one of them is Alaska. I would appreciate any info that anyone has on the employment and house/apartment rental market. And if any Alaskan hospitals offer loan forgiveness or sign on bonuses. I'm also planning on go back to finish my RN after some time off, so I would need to be close to a school that has a good RN program.

Hi Angela:

There are opportunties for employment in Alaska. Try doing a google.com search for Alaska job search as an LPN. The MD clinics, Alaska Native Health Consortium (with clinics and hospitals all over), Pioneer Homes, hospitals, home health care agencies, and nursing homes are always looking for qualified staff.

To find out about housing markets, look at the city you are interested in for the Community Research Quarterlies put out by the cities and boroughs. The newspapers will also have ads in the classified section for housing.

There are classes for ADN and BSN through the University of Alaska which has many campuses all over the state. You can also complete online studies outside the state for your degree.

Best of luck to you in your adventure.
