Soon to graduate...stress of job search is killing me!

Published

Hi, everyone - I am a student in an accelerated associate degree nursing program in the Southeast. I graduate in five weeks, and am starting to see some of my classmates getting interviews. I have submitted several applications, most on the 6th of July, and have not gotten any calls yet. I am going to take some proactive steps, starting this coming Monday:

  • Calling to ask my first-choice hospital about their new grad residency program (they are starting to schedule interviews for the group starting October 11th)
  • Sending my resume and a cover letter to a med/onc inpatient unit that I really enjoyed during clinicals
  • Scheduling an appointment to speak with the instructor who works at my first-choice hospital to get some pointers about applying there'

I don't really need any advice right now, but I would like to share my job-searching experiences as I get closer to graduation. Anyone else who is close to graduation and starting their search is welcome to chime in!

I just wanted to say that I read your post and look forward to any and all replies. I am just starting nursing school but want to look ahead to getting a job and learning from you all how best to approach it.
