after an exam for me ....

DMX -

Yall gone make me lose my mind

up in here, up in here,

Yall gone make me go all out

up in here, up in here,

Yall gone make me act a fool

up in here, up in here,

Yall gone make me lose my cool

up in here, up in here,

I actually like Eminem's "Lose Yourself"... It begins:

"If you had one shot... one opportunity

To seize everything you ever wanted -- one moment

Would you capture it? Or just let it slip..."

It's about someone who gives it everything they have to achieve their dream. They work incredibly hard even though they face an uphill climb and their own personal fear. They know that success depends both on having the courage to grab that opportunity when it presents itself and on having the talent needed to deliver.

Your mantra becomes: Success is my only option, failure's not.

"You better lose yourself in... the moment

You own it, you better never let it go

You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow

The opportunity comes once in a lifetime..."

The song ends up with: You Can Do Anything You Set Your Mind To..

"Don't Give Up" by Peter Gabriel, and "The Warmth" by Incubus ..... after a test, I generally put on some kind of 80's rock....def Leppard, Poison, etc....and just jam in the car.

After a test I try either O.A.R., Jimmy Buffett (especially if it's rainy or snowy out), or the Rolling Stones. Coincidentally, on the way *TO* the test, 9 times out of 10 Pink Floyd's "We Don't Need No Education" comes on. Last semester I heard it everyday of my finals week. I thought it had to be a weird sign of something backwards because if I felt I didn't need education I wouldn't be where I am today! :chuckle

I'm a big music fan with such diverse tastes that I can't possibly just pick one or two songs....

At the moment, I only have a few things loaded on my computer (hard drive crashed) :o

It doesn't have any words, but Classical Gas just makes me feel good every time I hear it. Lots of Something Corporate songs just make me plain happy. :)

There's a duet Jimmy Buffett does with... maybe Martina McBride? "Trip Around the Sun" - reminds me not to be such a perfectionist! :)

I also really love "Piece of Work" by him, off the same album. Guess I'm a bit of a parrothead. :D

Manna- That song is called "Trip Around the Sun" with Martina McBride. It's on his album "License to Chill" and features duets with a bunch of country singers. Those are probably some of the only good songs on that album, though.

And don't worry; I'm a Parrothead, too!!!

Yep, I have that one too, but it's a burned copy so I don't know the names of all the songs/artists. :chuckle

I thought it was okay as a whole, though definately not his best. :)

Another sort-of inspirational song I love - "Bridge Over Troubled Water" :)

I LOVE Incubus!! :) :Melody:
