Someones project doesn't add up.

So, on my break I took a minute to read something that a fellow RN had done in a presentation which had glitter and was thumb tacked up on the wall for everyone to view over the last year or so..... Well actually more likely my ADD kicked in I saw glitter and wanted to see what magical unicorn adventure was being promoted.

Yet, while reading through the presentation printout I just got interested and I submerged in to searching out the articles and basically came to the understanding that what was implemented did not correlate to the EBP material used and data was manipulated to meet the needs of this person project.

Iam not a shinny penny on the unit as the other individual is, yet now its been implemented for over a year and here I sit wondering do I bring up my findings? or just say f-it?

its basically just an quantitative assessment that was put in place, but its totally wrong for not only the population, but environment as well. I had brought it up in the past as not making sense, yet got shot down many times by people I'm almost certain were just being protective of the project due to who did it. Yet I can't seem to let it go because...again I'm not a shinny penny.

Has it any potential to harm patients? If not...

Letting it go might be your best political move.

However, if you really want to pursue it, I recommend courting a powerful ally first. You describe yourself as not being politically powerful -- less powerful than the project's leader. So don't take her on directly. Find someone you can trust who is more powerful than you (unit educator? etc.) and discuss your thoughts with them privately. Perhaps they can tell you where YOUR thinking is wrong. Be open to that possibility and ask them to critique your reasoning. Or maybe they will agree with you -- and work with you to improve things.

If you want to take a stab at changing this, that's the way to go about it.

In the grand scheme of things the shiny penny's project does not add up to the grief you will bring upon yourself by challenging the shiny penny. Concentrate on improving your shine by doing a good job and maintaining at least a neutral presence on the unit.
