Some Advice for a pre-nursing student!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi everyone..I'm currently enrolled at a community college working on my ADN. I have a B.A. in history that I earned in 2011. I was wondering if I should get my lpn license first and than continue on with the RN or do the lpn and try to find a lpn to bsn??

What do you all think???

It's difficult for anyone to respond to your question because you have not indicated anything about your circumstances.

I would suggest that you map out both routes - complete with timelines and costs for completing each option. Then, you can make a decision by applying your own set of priorities - exs: which is more important - time or money? how far is the commute for each program?

Good luck

You say you are already enrolled into community college working on your ADN. So why would you drop out of that school to pursue an LPN degree? If you've already began on the path to your ADN, I would just stick with it and go for your ADN.

If you are already going for your ADN finish that and then go for a BSN. Going from ADN to LPN is working backwards why do that? And LPN to RN bridge programs don't really save you time if that's why you are thinking about doing LPN first instead.

Well if you have a bachelors already why not do an accelerated program and get your bsn in 12-18 month? That would be faster than getting your lpn then adn or adn then bsn. I got my lpn first then adn and am currently finishing up my bsn. It will be 3yrs that way with all pre-reqs done (i had been in college 5yrs when I decided to pursue nursing).
