Solving the Shortage

Create more RN programs and reintroduce legislation for RCT's:lol2: in the mean time. It's that easy. What say you? I know it's against ______'s interest though.:clown: That's why the ANA doesn't support it.

What's RCT's?

Here's an article about it...

Funny how the AMA and ANA always try to screw each other over. The highest paid nurse in San Francisco got 350000 in one year. I don't know about you, but the system is screwed up. One thing they forgot to do was raise physician pay. Whoops. It's no wonder why physicians don't want to do primary care.

I have no problems with RN's needing bachelors and masters degrees, but what's up with the funding for more RN programs? This is ANA's doing.

However, recruitment to nursing is difficult when salaries are low, and the work, while very rewarding, is hard.

Why doesn't anyone want to face the truth that in reality, it's an artificial shortage? Same with doctors and pharmacists. BTW, pharmacists should only be available for people who have 2 years done. This 4 years of school before pharmacy school is ridiculous IMO. They also should be able to prescribe some medications.

pharmacists can't dx so they can't prescribe...not that they are unable to it is a legal thing

same as an lpn cannot do an assessment but they are responsible for observations on their patients on when they are in distress etc

the rtc thing looks like a position between cna and lpn i wonder what pay scale they plan for a handmaiden to a handmaiden to a handmaiden

the doctor who said 'it shouldn't take 4 years to learn how to make a bed or empty a bedpan' was completely unaware of what duties a nurse has, which doesn't say much about his observations as a md

Agreed

They should be able to. They went to school to learn about the drugs more so than doctors.

It says it was published in 1988... ???

there are many here that will argue with you about there being a nursing shortage.. i have no intention on getting into that but i will say that i do think that if we are going to be promoting anything for the nursing profession lets make it easier for lvn's to transition to rn. why introduce a new profession into the market when we already have a valuable resource available.
