Yuck! Who does this? So my husband and I are on a long weekend in Taos, NM. Friday night we were at a local bar listening to a band. In walk a group of women in their mid-twenties. They appeared to have just gotten off work, as they were all wearing scrubs. They hung out at the bar for several hours, drinking, shooting pool, dancing, flirting with men. Wearing their scrubs. Yuck! Of course, after having a couple beers, myself, I was tempted to approach them and ask if they knew how gross and unhygienic that was, but I'm not a big person, and these women were all somewhat large and could have broken me like kindling, and luckily I hadn't had so much to drink that I was that foolish (my husband, of course, bet me $5 to say something to them).
All I could think of all night was fomites!
so agree!i doubt you're in the minority!always worked 3_11 in my younger days and most other patrons of the establisments we went to were far from horrified about us but rather always were sending over more drinks and being VERY social toward us. not even afraid to dance slow dances all cuddled up with us.
Wow, you sound near perfect. You don't even go out in sweats. So now people who go out in sweats are just plain trashy. Well, I have been in public in scrubs and sweats. Guess I define trash.
Wow, this has been the most judgmental thread I have seen yet.
There's a big difference between saying something looks trashy and that someone who wears it is trash. I give men wearing sweats a wide berth. In my experience the probability of them being either deranged or under the influence is quite high. I wouldn't want others to have that perception of me.
Nurses going to the bar wearing scrubs really look unprofessional. As nurses we all know what we have been esposed to: different kinds of bodily fluids and organisms. I can understand a "quick" stop in a grocery store after work, but not in bars. I guess it's better to keep some extra clothes in the car just in case you wanna hangout with friends after work.
You know, when I was younger, I wouldn't leave the house without cute clothes and full war-paint.
Now, I am lucky if I remember to brush my hair. I blame midnights.
SN - I really DON'T wonder why I am still single!
Back to the topic at hand - if you all could only see the place we go for a beer in the mornings after work... between us and the guys from the plants it isn't usually pretty. But, we've all been working hard and just want to have a drink and shoot some pool.

You have bars open in the morning. THAT is so awesome! We have to sneak our own liquor into the Waffle House. And at the Waffle House, my scrubs are about the cleanest thing in there!

I would have to say a day care center is probably every bit as germy as the hospital. The scary thing is you can't exactly tell who is a child care attendant :/
Children are very germy little monsters. You know who also has a very germy job? Garbage men. It's not just healthcare workers that have exposure to bacteria and are out socializing in public all willy-nilly without decontaminating after work.
I think worrying about others going out in scrubs is taking it to extreme. I'd be more worried about the mother at the grocery store who has 2 toddlers in tow.
