You need a social security number to register for the NCLEX in all states. NATIONAL Council Licensure EXamination.
ETA: It appears that some states will allow you to test without an SSN, but you have to get permission and special exemption in order to do so. It is the exception to the rule and difficult to do.
yup kabayan, any states here in the US needs a SSN for Nclex-RN exam,. and they are correct too that there are an exemption but it will take sometime to do it,. you also need as foreign grad to take the CGFNS exam since majority i believe require that already., and granting you are permitted to take the nclex, and you pass they will give you a notification to submit your SSN in certain span of days or else your exam result will be forfeited. But ain't sure about it if it's still the same or whatsoever cause i have clinical instructors there before naman that they were able to take the exam, not just so sure on how they have done it tho.
US SSN will only be issued if in the US with a valid work/immigrant visa. OP you will have to do your research and look at state requirements and see which states do or do not require US SSN. Some states will allow you to sit NCLEX without a US SSN however they will not issue a license without one
