I've been on and off this site since 2007, even though this screen name isn't that old, I've had old names, from a since closed email account.
Anyway the reason I'd come and go is because I was always so surprised at how nasty some of the posters are on here.
Yea I fell into the trap of thinking, oh if they are nurses they should be kind and compassionate. This was early on when I was a new grad. I had a lot to learn. This was not always the case on here at all.
After some time I'd come back thinking maybe it was a few bad apples. I'm a nurse and its nice to have a place to connect with other nurses and this is the main site...but again I'd either read on someone else's posts or in response to mine, someone posting JUST to be nasty. No other point that to spit nastiness at someone.
Nothing to do with this forum of course, I have finally decided to leave nursing, after trying to make it work for over a decade. Not for me. Never was. I just posted about the situation yesterday, and what do you know, people felt the need to reply just to be nasty.
Along with leaving nursing and will also never be tempted to come back to this site.
I want to say thank you to all the kind helpful folks here, because there absolutely are many!
And fairwell to the miserable ones that need to get a life, find Jesus, meditate or something because they are somehow ok with themselves and their repugnant behavior. If you're replying to people looking for advice only to discharge your own anger, jealousy, and hate, then you have issues that need addressing. I hope you can find that peace someday. I can't imagine you're a very good nurse if you're carrying around that kind of unprovoked nastiness.
Good luck to all new nurses! This truly is an amazing profession. It just wasn't for me.
