I just started my LVN program. I have a month left in the first part, which is A&P. Right now I am in school 5 days a week, but only 4 hours a day from 1-5PM. This class is rather accelerated. For instance, we have been in just over a month, covered 13 chapters and had 6 tests. We had a test Monday and then had 4 days to cover the Blood and Heart and had our test today. I am exhausted from staying up late hours to study. I have 3 kids. I know that the program is going to get harder. and I knew that before I started. What I didn't plan on was that my fiance get laid off. He was the MAIN breadwinner, and now I have to continue working as a CNA on weekends to help. Today is Friday and if I at least had the weekend to rest, I'd feel better, but I am faced with two 12 hour shifts 7a-7p Saturday and Sunday. I feel so physically and mentally tired and I just want a break. I love my job and I know once I get there I will be fine, but I know that after working two 12's in a row I'll be even more tired. Plus I feel like I lose 2 days of study time. The chapters we are learning now are the Vascular and Lymphatic. Our next test is Thursday. Ugh! I am so tired. I don't want to work anymore. I guess I just had to whine a bit to some of you who understand because my man doesn't! LOL! He seems to think that since I am pulling A's every test that I can afford to work, but for my health I am starting to wonder. He also says "Work experience will help you go far and make more $$" He has no clue! I am just a CNA! Argh!!!
Thanks for listening
Shannon
Shannon, HANG IN THERE! I know it's so tough, but you can do it! I know where you're coming from. I used to go to school Monday through Friday, then work 3-12s (nights)...Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as a tech in the Emergency Department. Don't ask me how I did it, because I have no clue!! If you have time to make notecards...and take them to work to study in your downtime (if there is a bit), that really helped me! I'm an R.N. after two long years of blood, sweat, and lots of tears...not to mention going weeks without a day off. Hang in there, because the end result is much worth it.
I totally feel you. I have a test, the final, Wednesday in Chemistry and I can find no motivation to study for it. I work full time Sun thru thursday evenings and have class mon thru thurs mornings. My days off all I want to do is REST!! This semester has been tough, but I know I need to pull it off and I will. My mom put her self thru nursing school with us three kids and a full time job, everytime I feel like quiting I think back to her and realize if she can do it I can too. I don't have kids and can't even imagine how rough it was for her. Just hang in there and think about how great it will fill when it is all over.
Yikes, Shannon! That sucks! Sorry to hear about your so getting laid off! That sure doesn't help when you were already feeling like you needed to quit. What are the prospects of him getting another job? Sending you hugs. I am amazed that you are able to juggle it all and pull off those A's too!
