Okay, so I am in a small town. The local community college only takes 20 applicants and I KNOW their is NO way I will make the cut this year. So the next time I can apply is next year for the 2014 program!
Problem being is my husband is Marine Corps, his orders are up in 2014. So in 2014 we will be moving some where Florida, California, etc.
I am currently enrolled at my community college in the ADN! I have NOT been accepted in the ACTUAL RN program, just taking ALL of the courses I need to complete my ADN.
So my question is, what if I complete ALL of the credit hours I need to get my ADN but never actually went into a Nursing Program, can I still take the NCLEX to get my RN?
Please help, I don't know what to do.
Well at the school in currently enrolled in I can take all of te credits to obtain my ADN degree except for the core nursing courses. Which is obviously the main purpose. Again which is why I have been so confused.
I don't think anyone is trying to disparage or not help you, they're just trying to understand exactly what you're asking.
If you can take all of the courses to complete your degree EXCEPT for the core nursing courses, you cannot sit for the NCLEX. You have to take all of the courses, including the core nursing courses, which is the only way you would be able to complete your required number of clinical hours to sit for the NCLEX. I know it's frustrating but just take every pre-req and co-req you can. If you do have to move before being accepted into the program there's an excellent chance that you could transfer many of the courses and start someone else. Good luck!
Thank you for those who have helped me. I am not an idiot, I understand I need those nursing credits. My question was specifically if I could take the nursing credits without being in the program if I already had all of the other courses completed. Thanks again.
What classes? English? Math? Microbiology? Anyone can take those classes and most people take them before they enter a program, which is why they're called pre-requisites
If they aren't general education classes and they aren't nursing core classes, I have no clue what classes they should be. You said you were enrolled in ALL the classes you need to get your ADN. You cannot be enrolled in all of them if you aren't enrolled in all of them. So I think you're confused at some basic level over how the program works and your question is confusing everyone else because of misinformation.
No one thinks you're stupid. However, like I said, more research/guidance is needed from your program.

If this comment was towards me I am so sorry that was not my intention. I was just trying to figure our exactly what you were asking and tried to help the best I could. Figuring out nursing courses and what it includes can be very frustrating but don't be afraid to ask someone with knowledge in the course work to help you map out a plan of attack!! You can do this!! Good luck

You said you are taking all the classes EXCEPT the nursing courses. I think what others are trying to tell you is that you will not be allowed to enroll in those nursing courses until you are accepted into the program. So no, you will not be able to finish all courses and sit for the NCLEX without being accepted because you won't be able to take the nursing courses.
