What is the most sneakiest antics you encountered from administration trying to entrap a  unit or coworker?

I thought my old administration was the only ones to do that.  I was at the NS and a bathroom call light went off.  It was a patient I knew couldn’t use his call light so I left the NS and went straight to that pat’s room to check on her.  

When I  walked in the bathroom door popped out the DON,  the ADON, and the risk mgmt head.   The risk mgmt person had a stop watch,  told me it took me 10 seconds to get to the room .  When they  asked why I didn’t ask the PT what she needed before heading to the room I explained the PT was  nonverbal and bedbound.   The said “Ah,  we didn’t think about that.

Now that's funny. But then also not so funny. Talk about a no win situation for the nurse. If you answer the call light too slow you're screwed for not getting there faster but if you answer too quick you are questioned why you got there so quickly?  What a load of crap!

I would have promoted her.  Tardiness is not a virtue, to say the least. 

Some people have never learned that the start time of their shift is when they are expected to start working. 

A worker should arrive early enough to put away their coat, lunch, etc., use the restroom, get a Report sheet, and be ready to start work exactly on time.

A very infrequent tardy arrival, maybe once or twice per year, is acceptable.  And that's it.

I wouldn’t have promoted her but definitely agree with the general concept of this for sure. I am still shocked at my current work place how people think the start time is a suggestion and repeatedly walk on the units (basically all of them since I’m float pool) anywhere from 5-15 minutes past the 6:45 start time. And then some of them take their time putting their stuff away/getting ready. It absolutely blows my mind and boils my blood.

I used to just looove it when they'd hit the floor then proceed to have breakfast! They go to the facility kitchen or the unit  pantry and make a meal. And chow down.
