SMU Online MSN/FNP

Published

Hi everyone! I am about to start the online FNP program (part time) at Samuel Merritt on September but still kind of hesitant because of the huge amount of money I need to invest. I also have an almost 7 month old baby girl. I don't know if this is the right time to do it since my baby is still too young. However, if I decide to do it later, I might have more kids and might be harder for me to go back to school. I work 32 hours a week and have a very supportive husband. He works 4 days a week. I have the support of my mom but she also has a full time job but is willing to support me with my baby while I go to school. My background is 5years med-surg and currently on tele. Is the program doable? :nailbiting:

Good luck! I got in as well and I will be in your cohort but I'm going full-time. I did my BSN at SMU and it's a fantastic school. One of the reasons I chose to apply. If you're doing half time it's totally do-able. I have a friend who was in the BSN program with me and she's doing the hybrid FNP program there. She said the BSN was way harder and the FNP is hard work, but can be done.

Is there a lot of writing involved?

I was accepted to Part Time for fall as well! The clinical hours don't start until semester 6 (correct me if this is wrong!) :) I'll be working full time in the ED and have a 1 year old baby. So excited to start the program!

For those accepted, what were your reasons for choosing SMU?

I would also like to hear more about SMU's online FNP program. Does anyone have extra information to spare?!

Can I have ur email address so we can work together during the program?
