There's no nutrition in ice chips.
If your plan is to teach about pain management, how will you know your teaching plan has worked for this child? What will you observe/hear from the kid or parent?

Okay, so let's take a look at what SMART stands for.
S= Specific. Do you think your goal is specific enough? What is the goal? How often or how much? Where?
M= Measurable. What portion of your goal is measurable? Allows for accountability and specific feedback.
A= Attainable. Is your goal one that your patient can meet? Is it too much or not far enough?
R= Realistic. Can the patient meet the goal within the timeframe?
T= Timely. What is your timeframe for meeting the goal?
So, look at your statement. Did you meet all of these requirements? Did you meet standards of care for a post op T&A?
P.S. Ice chips aren't nutrition.
I can't think of any. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Your original plan states to include the 6 year old Patient AND the parent. What do you know about the learning ability of a 6 year old, given what you learned in class? How is the parent involved?

Does it have to be about pain? I would imagine there would be something more important (hint, constant swallowing).

Tolerating oral fluids is actually a very important goal for these kids, especially the first few days post operatively. But your goal needs to be specific. How much fluid does this child need daily (or per hour) in order to maintain hydration?
