slower pace CRNA program?

Mountain State University in WV. But, I read on this site that the graduating students are having trouble passing their boards and area hospitals won't hire them. I think think the classes are online a you have to go to the school every few weeks for hands w/ the SIMS dummy and take exams. You have to find your own clinical sites. I woudn't recommend. I don't think you understand the intensity required to learn anesthesia. You must learn to make decisions quickly and accurately, and it is the ultimate in multi-tasking. I feel rusty after taking a couple weeks of vacation, and that's after 15 years of practice. I don't believe you can learn it part time. And the clinical education is much more important than the classroom education. I had great A & P, but the rest of my classes were pretty dismal. I had great clinical instructors, and got a great education because of it. Clinical is where the most important learning takes place. The only thing more difficult than learning anesthesia is teaching anesthesia. I've done both, and I am a much better instructor now with 15 years experience teaching. It is a delicate balance of allowing the student to make decisions and struggle enough, but not too much. Finding your own clinical experience sounds way too risky for something that is that important. If you can't devote yourself 200% to your education, you need to consider something else. Good-luck.

Sounds like you would be perfect as a Nurse Practitioner.

Don't attempt CRNA school if you are not 100% committed. Your post leads one to believe you just want a higher salary. A NP will probably make more than a RN, just for your info

You definitely have some research to do. Be ready for a life challenge like no other. You have to really really want to do this! Don't buy any big purchases and be ready for those Ramen noodles again. There are NPs in my class and they say that program doesn't come close to what they are going through now. However, it can be done. I have met idiots that have made it through and they inspire me.. If he can do it, so can I.

UNC Charlotte has a part time option for the didactic portion I believe. Then the last two years is full time clinical. I'm not enrolled in the program so contact the school if you want accurate info.
