  1. 1. depends on where you work? In San Francisco, I know a female nurse with 5 years of experience making 140K a year. Any where around the bay area pay very well here. 2. Lawyer, depends on what kind of jobs you got. I know people graduated from UC Berkeley who is making around 100K a year and have a very angry life. He couldn't get into business law firm so he spent 1.5 year to look for a good job but he couldn't. He finally end up being a criminal lawyer and very stressful becoz all he deals with are high crimes. 3. Lawyer can make a better $$$ when they usually get older. (that also depends on what your work experience is) You want the $$$ when you are young right? 4. I also think that law firms may not be as stable as hospitals. 5. I'm not sure how much can you make in an insurance company with nurse and law degree. I would like to get some info from you guys? 6. Is there any other options if you stay in the medical field. Anesthesia could be one but what other degrees is worthy to get in terms of getting better compensations? Thank you!
  2. I will see you there then. I'm in CA and I will leave right after X-mas. Do you have a roommate by the way. I'm looking for a roommate to share the apartment in Arbor Gates. Are you interested? I'm a male thou. I will be in Fairhope by Jan. 2nd. I just talked to the staff yesterday and they told me that this one year BSN program has no break. The "break" is like a few days between modules. We still need to do the graduate coursework during those "Break" even if we are not planning to do the whole master. I don't think I can fly back to CA anytime during next year.
  3. Are you serious.............!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????? Only 11 out of 44 made it on time..........OH My GOD I got in for the Spring semester 2009. I'm now worried too.
  4. I think you kno I would be wrong. Obama did speak up for nurses, firefighters and police offers a few times. He said, he will guarantee the benefits of those. He wants to make this country a little bit like socialism country. After the great depression, we created so called, middle class. However, from 1979 to 2005, we don't have a middle class and there were no union movement. I'm hoping that after this financial crisis, we lay low again and have middle class and the re-appearance of union movement. Back then, auto workers had great benefits. I hope nurses will be the next to get great benefits during the lay low times. This is just my analysis after seeing Paul Krugman's discussion.
  5. what a turtle. If I can date a rich girl, I certainly will. However, I haven't found a rich and pretty one yet. I'm sticking with my pretty one.
  6. Just has an phone interview with the accelerated program committee and it went through well I guess. Acceptance letter will be sent out next week. Program will start 1-5-09 and it will last for a year. I'm already anxious cuz there is much time for me to move and money is a BIG BIG problem now. Although I'm minority male nursing student and I'm supposed to get free nursing education. (or should I?). I really don't know how am I going to come up with all the money. Since this is my 2nd undergrad, there is no more financial aid except student loan. The loan is limited to 12,500 per year but the program will probably cost 35K total including tuitions, meals and room. What do you guys suggest?
  7. Hi everyone Has any of you guys applied for U of South Alabama for the Spring 09? I did but I haven't heard anything yet. However, today I received a housing contract form from USA for the Spring 09. There is a card that asking for payment information as well. Do you think this imply something? The decision letter is going to be mail within 2 weeks.
  8. I'm sure I'm one of those idiots.
  9. Hi everyone Is there any distant learning CRNA program anywhere on earth? I'm about to start my accelerated BSN and I'm already planning for CRNA. I do know that there is Nurse Practitioner program that you only need to go to classroom a few times a month. You can do your clinical locally like hospitals near your living area. UC Davis has this Nurse Practitioner program which it takes a little longer like 3 total years. But you don't need to quit!!! Therefore, I'm hoping that there maybe a CRNA program just like that. I don't mind taking it longer like 4 years but I can't quit once I start working. I will probably buy a house after my BSN. Is there any CRNA program on earth anywhere that would allow to taking online classes and practice in the hospitals near where you live. How is the salary for Nurse Practitioner compare to CRNA thou? If it doesn't fit my schedule, I might just do the Nurse Practitioner then.
  10. Yeah......thats what I said. (disregard of what I said wrong) Ask him to get a high paying job or do 2 shifts so that you can the princess at home and get your nails done! Oh well....maybe she loves him too much! I want my wife to be dedicated to me too!
  11. Thats good! That will prevent more and more male nurses from coming into this field. As long as I get good pay, I'm just gonna tell all the girls I'm a medical doctor. I'm going to live in a cheap area so that I got lots of money left for me to travel around the world. Its better than working as a engineer in a tense competition company in a expensive place and still just getting 94K a year. I'd rather only get 80K as a nurse in a suburban area in California and live in a big house with a swimming pool so I can invite girls to come party with me every night.
  12. We can thank the media image of "naughty nurses" for a big part of this problem. I don't know how the media is going to project an image of a male nurse??
  13. then, ask him to get a very high paying job or work 2 shifts so he can pay for all expenses. And call you princess bebe! I will definitively treat my wife like that. But of cuz she has to be very pretty.
  14. sounds nice! I wasn't born here thou! I came here when I was like 14. I'm Chinese. Anyhow, where to go for meeting girls and where is the parties? The financial situation is a big part of why I want to become a nurse. There are jobs almost everywhere. For example, if you live in San Francisco bay area and a nice house would cost you 1 million. The Capital of California is only 2 hours away from San Francisco and a nice house is only 1/4 of the cost of San Francisco. The problem is that San Francisco bay area has a wide variety of higher paying jobs but Capital of California, Sacramento may only have a few high paying jobs available. (nursing or government jobs). I still like California cuz the sunshine is very nice. I used to be an engineer graduated from college 2 years ago but got laid off in March this year. I was very ****** off because the pay wasn't not even high and you are bounded to stay in the San Francisco bay area cuz there are no jobs for my type of work in the suburban area like Sacramento, Stockton, Santa Rosa and Tracy. Those are where all the pretty looking girls live. You won't find that much pretty looking girls in the busy city like San Francisco. When girls don't need to work that hard, they become prettier. I don't like to work too hard either cuz its just not worthy. I like to work regular hours and do nothing but chilling after work.
  15. I got the same answer from then about the cut off GPA being 3.39 for the traditional program. I have sent in my application along a lot more than they asked for. I'm volunteering at 2 hospitals working closely with patients. Each of them wrote me a recommendation letter. I even wrote a personal statement. However, my GPA isn't good cuz I got a bio-chemical engineering degree from UC Davis. It's around 3.11. I got laid off and don't see the future of being an engineer nomore so I want to switch fast. I hope I can get into the 1 year program.
