"More than 3000 nurses and supporters responded with messages of protest to a recent international advertising campaign by shoe manufacturer Skechers. The campaign featured pop music star Christina Aguilera dressed both as a "nurse" in a provocative outfit and weilding a huge syringe and as her own mock-fearful patient, exploiting the "naughty nurse" and "nurse-as-battle-axe" sterotypes. Skechers has announced that its ads were not menat to "trivialize or marginalize the valuable services" of nurses and that the company had pulled all United States distributino of the advertisement and discontinued international media buys." Even though they FINALLY pulled the campaign, I'm still not buying any of their shoes! I still don't understand a company with a "Marketing Dept" that thought it was okay to put those kinds of ads out in the first place!

I think Sketchers are great shoes, and I will continue to buy them in the future. I also liked the ad.
Some people are way too sensitive and have way too much time on their hands...

Yay. Hated the ad. Wrote to the company and told them, truthfully, that I usually ONLY buy Skechers for work and play, usually about four pairs a year but that I could not bring myself to purchase their brand as long as the ad was running.

Agree here..have any of you clicked on the nurse advocacy website? They want to have "sexy nurse" lingerie banned also!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl: Give me a break! Sometimes it's taken a little too far.

i agree with the above. some people have way too much time and are way too uptight. i don't see anybody out there standing up for the poor maids. they are always on tv in a bad way. hehe. just kidding. actually though kinda of an interesting point what about the maid? you probably see more of the nasty maid than the naughty nurse!! i have always loved the shoes and will continue to wear them. maybe even with my naughty nurse outfit!!!

Have all of you also wrote letters in regard to Jack on Will and Grace the "Murse"? :angryfire This guy here hates that and so do my hetero classmates. It continues to amaze me that a group that is less than 4% of the population insists on having a larger voice and feel they are exempt from criticism on account of their self-proclaimed civil rights protected minority status. This "Murse" in training is not a homophobe however I don't appreciate the strongest character on tv being a flaming sissy that quantifies all gay stereotypes. I have 2 kids, a wife, a fat lazy dog, and old ford truck, and love riding big motorcycles. Unfortunately the Hollywood people don't take kindly to WASPs with "normal" lives.
He says as he laces up his skechers to walk the dog.
I see the new ad with Christina dressed as a cop is out in circulation. I haven't heard the police pitch a fit yet.
Perhaps if she were holding a donut...
I saw that ad. I thought it was tacky and trashy as well.
