SJVC Visalia LVN to RN Program

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all,

Just thought I would start a thread to see who applied for the upcoming 2018 cohort. I also wanted to check in and see how your experience has been so far through the application process. As for me, so far, I think I'm doing really well! I scored a level 2 on the RN fundamentals exam, had a great interview, and now I'm locked in with my finances. Just waiting for the phone call from SJVC to tell me if I've been accepted or not.

I believe there are only 24 seats for the bridge program and over 100 applicants. It's more competitive than I thought, especially because it's a private college.

We're supposed to hear by October 15th. Good luck to everyone!! :)

Sorry to hear that. I'm an alternate:(

Don't worry! A lot of people drop their seat because of finances or because they have been accepted to another school. Crossing my fingers for you!

Hey I was wondering if you guys had orientation yet and by any chance has anyone dropped. I'm wondering what are my chances of getting called. It's so nerve racking ☹️

Hi! We had orientation last Friday and then again this coming Friday. Everyone has done their background checks and drug tests, so... I'm assuming depending on peoples' results, that will definitely play a factor. Good luck!

I'm an alternate. Has anyone dropped? Wondering what my chances of getting in are.

I was wondering the same.. I'm an alternate as well and I emailed the admission advisor but I haven't heard back from her. I know class begins this week. I'm still hopeful... I also noticed that the recent graduating class had 27 people and I thought they only accepted 24, unless they accepted their top 3 alternates. Idk I could be wrong. The uncertainty has me thinking all the possibilities.

Hi! We were just told yesterday that an alternate got in, but so far, no one else has dropped. We had our official first day of class yesterday 1/3/18. Good luck!!

Update as of 1/11/18: We are on our third alternate. One alternate dropped before class started. Another one came, but she felt like she was already so behind so she dropped. And now we have the third alternate who started today.

Thanks for the update. Are you sure the first person was an alternate or was it someone who was initially accepted and turned down their seat prior to starting? Therefore you guys are on your second alternate?

Did they start calling you guys to meet with finacial aid and come up with funds to cover costs even before you take the RN fundamental test? I applied for 2019 cohort so just curious

I don't think so. I remember after the interview, they had us speak with financial aid to go over options. And they said to think about what route we were going for funding, because you have to know the week (I'm wanting to say it was within a week, but maybe two) you get accepted how you are paying for it

Ohhk Because I am taking the test next month, they already called me to go over with finacial aid. Maybe they are doing things different this year.

Per Rumorville, usually if someone doesn't take his or her seat and was accepted, they just blew their chance and won't be offered again. So to answer your Q, I'm not 100% sure. Sorry!
